And Jesus the son of Jozedek and his brothers the priests and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brothers arose and built the altar of the God of Israel to offer on it whole burnt offerings according to the things written in the law of Moses, the man of God
And they prepared the altar on its preparation, because in terror from the peoples of the lands was upon them, and a whole burnt offering went up on it to the Lord in the morning and at evening.
And they kept the feast of booths according to what is written, and burnt offerings day by day, in number, as the judgment, the matter of the day in its day.
and after this, continual burnt offerings, and for the new moons, and for all the consecrated feasts, and for every one making a freewill offering, a freewill offering to the Lord
And they gave silver to the stonecutters and to the craftsmen, and food and drink and oil to the Sidonians and to the Tyrians, to bring cedar wood from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the authorization of Cyrus king of the Persians concerning them
And in the second year of their coming into the house of God in Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Josedek and the rest of their brothers, the priests and the Levites, and all those coming from the captivity into Jerusalem, began, and they appointed the Levites from twenty years old and upward over those doing the works in the house of the Lord.
And Jeshua and his sons and his brothers, Kadmiel and his sons, sons of Judah, stood over those doing the work in the house of God, the sons of Henadad, their sons and their brothers, the Levites.
And they laid the foundation to build the house of the Lord, and the priests stood arrayed with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the Lord by the hands of David king of Israel.
And they answered in praise and thanksgiving to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy is forever upon Israel; and all the people gave a loud voice to praise the Lord over the founding of the house of the Lord.
And many of the priests and of the Levites and rulers of the fathers’ houses, the elders who had seen the first house in its foundation and this house in their eyes, were weeping with a loud voice, and a crowd with shouts of joy to raise up a song.
And the people were not recognizing the sound of the signal of joy from the sound of the weeping of the people, because the people cried out with a loud voice, and the voice was heard even from far away.
