And it came to pass, as it was heard by Sanaballat and Tobia and Gesham the Arab and the rest of our enemies that I had built the wall and no breath was left in them until that time, I had not set doors in the gates,

And Sanaballat and Gesam sent to me, saying, Come, and let us be gathered together in the same place in the villages in the plain of Ono; and they were devising to do me evil.

And I sent angels against them, saying, I am doing a great work and I shall not be able to come down, lest the work should cease; as soon as I finish it, I will come down to you.

And they sent to me according to this word, and I sent to them according to these things.

And Sanaballat sent his servant to me, and an opened letter in his hand.

And it was written in it: Among the nations it was heard that you and the Jews are reckoned to revolt; therefore you are building the wall, and you are becoming a king to them.

And besides these things you set up prophets for yourself, that you might sit in Jerusalem as king in Judah; and now these words will be reported to the king; and now come, let us take counsel together.

And I sent to him, saying, Did it not happen as these words which you speak, that from your heart you are lying them?

For all are terrifying us, saying, Their hands will be weakened from this work, and it will not be done; and now I have strengthened my hands.

And I entered into the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah son of Mehetabel, and he himself was confined, and he said, Let us gather together into the house of God in the midst of it, and let us shut its doors, because they are coming by night to kill you.

And I said, Who is the man who will enter into the house and live?

And I understood, and behold, God did not send him, because the prophecy was a word against me, and Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.

upon me a crowd, so that I may fear and do thus and sin and become to them for an evil name, so that they may reproach me

Remember, O God, Tobias and Sanaballat, according to these his doings, and Noeada the prophet, and the rest of the prophets who were terrifying me.

And the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth of Elul in fifty-two days.

And it happened when all our enemies heard, and all the nations round about us feared, and there fell great terror upon their eyes, and they knew that from our God this work had been brought to completion.

And in those days letters were going from many honorable men of Judah to Tobiah, and Tobiah’s letters were coming to them

For many in Judah were bound by oath to him, that he was son-in-law of Shechenia son of Herae, and Johanan his son took the daughter of Mesulam son of Barachia as wife

And his words they were speaking against me, and my words they were bringing forth to him, and Tobias sent letters to frighten me.
