In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea son of Elah reigned in Samaria over Israel nine years

And he did the evil in the eyes of the Lord, only not as the kings of Israel who were before him.

Against him Shalmaneser king of the Assyrians went up, and Hoshea became his servant, and he returned to him tribute

And the king of the Assyrians found in Hoshea wrongdoing, because he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt and had not brought tribute to the king of the Assyrians in that year; and the king of the Assyrians besieged him and bound him in the house of custody.

And the king of the Assyrians went up through all the land, and he went up to Samaria and besieged it for three years.

In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of the Assyrians captured Samaria and removed Israel into Assyria and settled them in Ala and in the rivers of Habor, Gozan, and the mountains of the Medes.

And it came to pass that the sons of Israel sinned against the Lord their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and they feared other gods.

and they walked in the statutes of the nations whom the Lord drove out from before the sons of Israel, and the kings of Israel, as many as made

And the sons of Israel clothed themselves with words not so against the Lord their God, and they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from tower of those keeping watch as far as a fortified city.

And they set up for themselves pillars and groves on every high hill and under every leafy tree

And they made offerings there on all the high places, as the nations whom the Lord had removed from before them, and they made companions, and they carved to provoke the Lord to anger

And they served the idols, of which the Lord said to them, You shall not do this thing to the Lord.

And the Lord testified against Israel and against Judah by the hand of all his prophets, every seer, saying, Turn back from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my ordinances and all the law which I commanded your fathers, as many things as I sent to them by the hand of my servants the prophets.

And they did not listen, and they hardened their neck more than the neck of their fathers.

and his testimonies, as many as he testified against them, they did not keep; and they walked after the vain things, and became vain, and after the nations round about them, whom he commanded them not to do according to these things

They abandoned the commandments of the Lord their God and made for themselves a molten image, two heifers, and made sacred groves, and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal

And they led their sons and their daughters through the fire, and they practiced divination and augury, and they sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke him to anger

And the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them from before his face, and there was not left except the tribe of Judah alone.

And Judah also did not keep the commandments of the Lord their God, and they walked in the ordinances of Israel, which they had done.

And the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel, and he shook them, and gave them into the hand of those plundering them, until he cast them away from before his face

For Israel apart from the house of David, and they made Jeroboam son of Nebat king, and Jeroboam drove Israel away from behind the Lord, and he caused them to sin with a great sin

And the sons of Israel walked in all the sin of Jeroboam, which he did; they did not depart from it.

until the Lord removed Israel from before his face, just as the Lord spoke by the hand of all his servants the prophets, and Israel was deported away from upon his land to the Assyrians until this day

And the king of the Assyrians brought from Babylon the one from Choutha and from Aia and from Aimath and Seppharouain, and they settled in the cities of Samaria instead of the sons of Israel and inherited Samaria and dwelt in its cities

And it came to pass at the beginning of their dwelling, they did not fear the Lord, and the Lord sent lions among them, and they were killing among them

And they said to the king of the Assyrians, saying, The nations which you removed and resettled in the cities of Samaria did not know the ordinance of the God of the land, and he sent against them the lions, and behold, they are putting them to death, because they do not know the ordinance of the God of the land.

And the king of the Assyrians commanded, saying, Lead away from there, and let them go and let them dwell there, and they shall instruct them in the judgment of the god of the land.

And they brought one of the priests whom they had deported from Samaria, and he dwelt in Bethel and was instructing them how they should fear the Lord

And the nations were making for themselves gods of the nations, and they put them in the house of the high places that the Samaritans had made, the nations, in their cities in which they were dwelling in them.

And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima.

And the Evites made Eblazer and Tharthak, and the Sepharvaim burned their sons in fire to Adramelech and Anemelech, gods of the Sepharvaim.

And they were fearing the Lord, and they set up their abominations in the houses of the high places that they had made in Samaria, nation by nation, in the city in which they were dwelling in it; and they were fearing the Lord, and they made for themselves priests of the high places, and they made for themselves in the house of the high places.

They feared the Lord, and they served their gods according to the ordinance of the nations from which he had removed them from there.

Until this day they were doing according to their ordinance; they fear, and they do according to their statutes and according to their judgment and according to the law and according to the commandment which the Lord commanded to the sons of Jacob, whom he named Israel.

And the Lord made a covenant with them and commanded them, saying, You shall not fear other gods, and you shall not bow down to them, and you shall not serve them, and you shall not sacrifice to them.

But the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a high arm, him you shall fear, and to him you shall bow down, and to him you shall sacrifice.

And the ordinances and the judgments and the law and the commandments that he wrote for you, you shall keep to do all the days, and you shall not fear other gods.

And the covenant which he made with you you shall not forget, and you shall not fear other gods

because but the Lord your God you shall fear, and he will deliver you from all your enemies

and you shall not listen to their judgment which they themselves do

And these nations were fearing the Lord, and they were serving their carved images; indeed also their sons and their sons’ sons, as their fathers did, do to this day.
