2
And it came to pass on the third day, and behold, a man came out from the camp, from Saul’s people, and his garments were torn and earth was upon his head; and it came to pass, when he entered to David, that he fell upon the ground and did obeisance to him.
4
And David said to him, What is this word? Report it to me. And he said that the people have fled from the battle, and many from the people have fallen and have died, and Saul has died, and Jonathan his son has died.
6
And the young man who was reporting to him said, I fell upon Mount Gilboa by chance, and behold, Saul had leaned himself upon his spear, and behold, the chariots and the horsemen had overtaken him.
10
And I stood over him and killed him, for I knew that he would not live after his falling; and I took the kingdom that was on his head and the bracelet that was on his arm, and I have brought them here to my lord.
12
And they wailed and wept and fasted until evening over Saul and over Jonathan his son and over the people of Judah and over the house of Israel, because they had been struck by the sword.
23
Saul and Jonathan, the beloved and the lovely, not separated; gracious in their life, and in their death they were not divided; they were lighter than eagles, and stronger than lions.
