And David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on the day when the Lord rescued him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.
and he said: O Lord, my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, to me
My God, my protector, I will be trusting in him; my defender and the horn of my salvation, my helper and my refuge, my salvation, from the unjust one you will save me
I will call upon the praised Lord, and I shall be saved from my enemies.
For the breakers of death encompassed me; the torrents of lawlessness terrified me.
The pangs of death surrounded me; the hardships of death came upon me before me.
In my being afflicted, I will call upon the Lord, and to my God I will cry out; and he will hear my voice from his temple, and my cry in his ears.
And the earth was shaken and quaked, and the foundations of the heaven were utterly shaken and torn apart, because the Lord was angry with them
Smoke went up in his anger, and fire from his mouth devoured; coals were kindled from him.
And he bent the heavens and came down, and darkness was under his feet
And he sat upon cherubim and was spread out and was seen upon wings of wind
And he made darkness his hiding place around him; his tent was darkness of waters, thick with clouds of air.
From the brightness before him coals of fire were kindled.
The Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High gave his voice.
And he sent out arrows and scattered them, lightning and he made them stagger.
And the channels of the sea appeared, and the foundations of the inhabited world were uncovered at the rebuke of the Lord, from the blast of the breath of his wrath.
He sent from on high and took me; he drew me out of many waters.
He rescued me from the strength of my enemies, from those who hated me, because they were stronger than I.
They overtook me in the day of my affliction, and the Lord became my support
And he brought me out into a broad place, and he delivered me because he took pleasure in me.
And the Lord repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands he repaid me.
For I kept the ways of the Lord and did not act impiously away from my God
For all his judgments were before me, and I did not depart from his ordinances.
And I shall be blameless to him, and I shall keep myself from my lawlessness.
And the Lord will repay me according to my righteousness and according to the cleanness of my hands before his eyes
With the merciful you will be shown merciful, and with a blameless man you will be shown blameless.
and with the chosen one you will be chosen, and with the crooked one you will be made crooked
And the poor people you will save, and you will humble eyes on the lofty ones.
For you are my lamp, O Lord, and the Lord will shine forth for me my darkness.
For in you I will run girded with strength, and in my God I will leap over a wall.
The mighty one, blameless is his way; the word of the Lord is strong, refined by fire; he is a protector to all who have trusted in him.
Who is strong except the Lord, and who is a creator except our God?
The mighty one, the one strengthening me with power, and he shook out my way blameless.
setting my feet like those of deer, and setting me upon the heights
teaching my hands for war and bending down a bow of bronze in my arm
And you gave me the shield of my salvation, and your obedience multiplied me.
You widened my steps under me, and my feet did not slip.
I will pursue my enemies and I will destroy them, and I will not turn back until I finish them.
And I will break them, and they shall not rise, and they shall fall under my feet.
And you will strengthen me with power for battle; you will bend down those who rise up against me under me.
And you gave my enemies to me as a back, those who hated me, and you put them to death.
They cried for help, and there was no helper, to the Lord, and he did not listen to them.
And I crushed them as the dust of the earth, as mud of the streets I pulverized them.
And you will rescue me from the strife of peoples; you will keep me as head of nations; a people whom I did not know served me.
Foreign sons lied to me; as soon as the hearing of the ear they obeyed me
Foreign sons shall be cast out and shall stumble from their enclosures
The Lord lives, and blessed be my protector, and my God, the protector of my salvation shall be exalted.
The Lord is strong, he who gives me vengeance, chastening peoples under me.
and bringing me out from my enemies and from those rising up against me you will lift me up; from a man of injustices you will deliver me
For this reason I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the nations, and I will sing praise to your name.
magnifying the salvations of his king and showing mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed forever
