The Koine Bible

For all this I laid it to my heart, and my heart with all saw this: that the righteous and the wise and their works are in the hand of God; also love and also hatred, a man does not know anything before their face.

Vanity in all things; one fate for the righteous and for the ungodly, for the good and for the evil, and for the clean and for the unclean, and for the one sacrificing and for the one not sacrificing; as the good, so the one sinning; as the one swearing, so the one who fears the oath.

This is an evil thing in everything that has been done under the sun, that one fate is for all, and indeed the heart of the sons of man has been filled with evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after them, to the dead.

For who is joined with all the living has hope, because a living dog, he himself is better than a dead lion

For the living know that they will die, and the dead know nothing, and there is no longer reward for them, for their memory has been forgotten

Also their love, also their hatred, also their zeal has already perished, and there is no more portion for them forever in all that has been done under the sun

Come, eat your bread in gladness, and drink your wine with a good heart, because God has already approved your works.

At every time let your garments be white, and let oil on your head not be lacking.

See life with the woman whom you loved all the days of the life of your vanity, those given to you under the sun, all the days of your vanity, because this is your portion in your life and in your toil with which you toil under the sun

Whatever your hand may find to do, do it according to your strength, because there is no work and no device and no knowledge and no wisdom in Hades, where you are going there

I turned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the war to the mighty, and bread not to the wise, and riches not to the understanding, and favor not to those who know; for time and chance will happen to them all.

For even man does not know his time, like the fish that are caught in an evil net and like the birds that are caught in a snare, so the sons of man are ensnared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them

And also this I saw as wisdom under the sun, and it is great to me.

There was a small city and few men in it, and a great king came against it and surrounded it and built great siegeworks against it

And he found in it a poor wise man, and he himself saved the city by his wisdom; and no man remembered that poor man.

And I said: Wisdom is better than might, yet the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are not being heard.

The words of the wise are heard in quietness more than the cry of those ruling in foolishness.

Wisdom is better than weapons of war, and one sinner will destroy much good.
