For in the twelfth month, on the thirteenth of the month, which is Adar, the letters written by the king arrived.

On that day those opposing the Jews perished, for no one resisted, fearing them.

For the rulers of the satraps and the tyrants and the royal scribes honored the Jews, for the fear of Mordecai was upon them

For the command of the king had fallen to be proclaimed in all the kingdom

And in Susa the city the Jews killed five hundred men

both Pharsannestain and Delphon and Phasga

And Phardatha and Barea and Sarbacha

and Marmasima and Arouphaion and Arsaios and Zabouthaithan

the ten sons of Haman son of Hamadathos the Bougaios, the enemy of the Jews, and they plundered

On that day the number of those who had perished in Susa was given to the king

And the king said to Esther, The Jews destroyed five hundred men in Susa the city, and in the surrounding district, what do you suppose they did? What then do you request further, and it will be to you.

And Esther said to the king, Let it be given to the Jews to do likewise tomorrow, so that they may hang the ten sons of Haman

And he allowed it to be so, and he exposed to the Jews of the city the bodies of the sons of Haman to hang up

And the Jews were gathered in Susa on the fourteenth of Adar, and they killed three hundred men, and they did not plunder anything.

But the rest of the Jews, those in the kingdom, gathered together and helped themselves and rested from their enemies, for they destroyed fifteen thousand of them on the thirteenth of Adar, and they plundered nothing.

And they rested on the fourteenth of the same month, and they made it a day of rest with joy and gladness

But the Jews who were in Susa the city gathered together, and on the fourteenth they did not rest, but they also observed the fifteenth with joy and gladness

Therefore the Jews, the dispersed in every outer country, keep the fourteenth day of Adar as a good day with rejoicing, sending portions each to his neighbor; and those dwelling in the metropolitan cities also keep the fifteenth day of Adar as a good rejoicing day, sending portions to their neighbors.

And Mordecai wrote these words in a book and sent them out to the Jews who were in the kingdom of Artaxerxes, to those near and to those far away.

to establish these good days and to keep both the fourteenth and the fifteenth of Adar

For in these days the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month in which it was turned for them, which was Adar, from mourning into joy and from pain into a good day, to lead the whole into good days of weddings and gladness, sending portions to their friends and to the poor

And the Jews accepted as Mordecai had written to them.

how Haman son of Hamadathos the Macedonian was warring against them, as he had put forth a decree and a lot to destroy them

And as he entered before the king, saying to hang Mordecai, but as many evils as he undertook to bring upon the Jews, they came upon him, and he was hanged, he himself and his children.

Therefore these days were called Purrai because of the lots, because in their language they are called Purrai, because of the words of this letter and all that they had suffered because of these things and all that happened to them

And he established, and the Jews accepted for themselves and for their offspring and for those added to them, that in no other way shall they use these days, but these days shall be kept as a memorial, from generation to generation, and city and family and country.

And these days of the Purim shall be kept for all time, and their memorial shall by no means fail from the generations

And Esther the queen, daughter of Aminadab, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote all that they had done, and the confirmation of the letter of the Purim.

And Mordecai and Esther the queen established for themselves against themselves, and then having established against their welfare and their counsel

And Esther established by word for ever, and it was written for memorial
