And it came to pass, when the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, and the kings of Phoenicia, those by the sea, heard that the Lord God had dried up the Jordan River from before the sons of Israel when they were crossing over, their minds melted, and they were terrified, and there was no understanding in them at all because of the presence of the sons of Israel.

At that time the Lord said to Joshua: Make for yourself flint knives from a sharp rock, and sitting down circumcise the sons of Israel.

And Joshua made flint knives sharpened and circumcised the sons of Israel at the place called The Hill of the Uncircumcision.

And in the manner in which Joshua purified the sons of Israel, all those who had been on the way, and all those who were uncircumcised of those who had come out of Egypt

Joshua circumcised all these.

For forty-two years Israel had wandered in the wilderness, in the Madbaritic wilderness; therefore most of their fighting men who had come out of the land of Egypt were uncircumcised, those who had disobeyed the commands of God, to whom he also determined not to let them see the land which the Lord swore to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey

But in place of these he set up their sons, whom Joshua circumcised because they had become uncircumcised on the way.

And after they had been circumcised, they remained quiet there, sitting in the camp until they had recovered.

And the Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, On this day I have taken away the reproach of Egypt from you; and he called the name of that place Galgala.

And the sons of Israel kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month, at evening, in the plains of Jericho, beyond the Jordan, in the plain

And they ate of the produce of the land unleavened bread and new grain on that day

And the manna ceased after they had eaten of the grain of the land, and there was no longer manna for the sons of Israel, but they enjoyed the produce of the land of the Phoenicians in that year

And it happened, as Joshua was in Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and saw a man standing opposite him, and his drawn sword in his hand; and Joshua approached and said to him, Are you of ours or of our adversaries?

And he said to him, I am commander of the army of the Lord; now I have come. And Jesus fell on his face to the ground and said to him, Master, what do you command your servant?

And the commander of the Lord’s army says to Joshua, Loose the sandal from your feet, for the place on which you have stood is holy.
