ἔσται ἡνίκα ἐὰν διαφαύσῃ ὁ ὄρθρος καὶ ἐξέλθῃ ὁ ἥλιος ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἀναλήμψεσθε ἕκαστος τὰ σκεύη τὰ πολεμικὰ ὑμῶν καὶ ἐξελεύσεσθε πᾶς ἀνὴρ ἰσχύων ἔξω τῆς πόλεως καὶ δώσετε ἀρχηγὸν εἰς αὐτοὺς ὡς καταβαίνοντες ἐπὶ τὸ πεδίον εἰς τὴν προφυλακὴν υἱῶν Ασσουρ καὶ οὐ καταβήσεσθε
And it shall be, when the dawn shall shine through and the sun shall go out upon the earth, each one shall take up his weapons of war, and every man able shall go out from the city, and you shall set a leader over them as they go down onto the plain against the outpost of the sons of Assur, and you shall not go down.
ἀναλαβόντες οὗτοι τὰς πανοπλίας αὐτῶν πορεύσονται εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν αὐτῶν καὶ ἐγεροῦσι τοὺς στρατηγοὺς τῆς δυνάμεως Ασσουρ καὶ συνδραμοῦνται ἐπὶ τὴν σκηνὴν Ολοφέρνου καὶ οὐχ εὑρήσουσιν αὐτόν καὶ ἐπιπεσεῖται ἐπ᾿ αὐτοὺς φόβος καὶ φεύξονται ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν
And these, taking up their armor, will go into their camp, and they will raise up the commanders of the force of Assur, and they will run together to the tent of Holofernes, and they will not find him, and fear will fall upon them, and they will flee from before you.
ἐπακολουθήσαντες ὑμεῖς καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες πᾶν ὅριον Ισραηλ καταστρώσατε αὐτοὺς ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτῶν
And you, and all who dwell in all the border of Israel, having followed after, lay them low in their roads.
δὲ τοῦ ποιῆσαι ταῦτα καλέσατέ μοι Αχιωρ τὸν Αμμανίτην ἵνα ἰδὼν ἐπιγνοῖ τὸν ἐκφαυλίσαντα τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Ισραηλ καὶ αὐτὸν ὡς εἰς θάνατον ἀποστείλαντα εἰς ἡμᾶς
But before doing these things, call to me Achior the Ammonite, so that when he sees he may recognize the one who has scorned the house of Israel and him who has sent him to us as to death

And they called Achior out of the house of Uzziah, and when he came and saw the head of Holofernes in the hand of a man in the assembly of the people, he fell on his face and his spirit failed him
δὲ ἀνέλαβον αὐτόν προσέπεσεν τοῖς ποσὶν Ιουδιθ καὶ προσεκύνησεν τῷ προσώπῳ αὐτῆς καὶ εἶπεν εὐλογημένη σὺ ἐν παντὶ σκηνώματι Ιουδα καὶ ἐν παντὶ ἔθνει οἵτινες ἀκούσαντες τὸ ὄνομά σου ταραχθήσονται
And when they took him up, he fell at Judith’s feet and bowed down to her face and said, Blessed are you in every tent of Judah and in every nation, those who, when they have heard your name, will be troubled.
νῦν ἀνάγγειλόν μοι ὅσα ἐποίησας ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ταύταις καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτῷ Ιουδιθ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ λαοῦ πάντα ὅσα ἦν πεποιηκυῖα ἀφ᾿ ἧς ἡμέρας ἐξῆλθεν ἕως οὗ ἐλάλει αὐτοῖς
And now report to me all that you did in these days. And Judith told him in the midst of the people everything that she had done from the day when she went out until the time when she was speaking to them.
And when she ceased speaking, the people shouted with a great voice and gave a joyful cry in their city.
δὲ Αχιωρ πάντα ὅσα ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐπίστευσεν τῷ θεῷ σφόδρα καὶ περιετέμετο τὴν σάρκα τῆς ἀκροβυστίας αὐτοῦ καὶ προσετέθη εἰς τὸν οἶκον Ισραηλ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης
And Achior, when he saw all that the God of Israel had done, believed in God very much, and he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, and he was added to the house of Israel until this day
δὲ ὁ ὄρθρος ἀνέβη καὶ ἐκρέμασαν τὴν κεφαλὴν Ολοφέρνου ἐκ τοῦ τείχους καὶ ἀνέλαβεν πᾶς ἀνὴρ τὰ ὅπλα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξήλθοσαν κατὰ σπείρας ἐπὶ τὰς ἀναβάσεις τοῦ ὄρους
And when daybreak rose and they hung the head of Holofernes from the wall, every man took up his weapons and they went out by companies against the ascents of the mountain.
δὲ υἱοὶ Ασσουρ ὡς εἶδον αὐτούς διέπεμψαν ἐπὶ τοὺς ἡγουμένους αὐτῶν οἱ δὲ ἦλθον ἐπὶ τοὺς στρατηγοὺς καὶ χιλιάρχους καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα ἄρχοντα αὐτῶν
But the sons of Assur, when they saw them, sent to their leaders; and they came to the commanders and chiliarchs and to every ruler of theirs.
παρεγένοντο ἐπὶ τὴν σκηνὴν Ολοφέρνου καὶ εἶπαν τῷ ὄντι ἐπὶ πάντων τῶν αὐτοῦ ἔγειρον δὴ τὸν κύριον ἡμῶν ὅτι ἐτόλμησαν οἱ δοῦλοι καταβαίνειν ἐφ᾿ ἡμᾶς εἰς πόλεμον ἵνα ἐξολεθρευθῶσιν εἰς τέλος
And they came to the tent of Holofernes and said to the one who was over all his things, Rise, then, our lord, because the slaves have dared to come down upon us for war, so that they may be destroyed utterly to the end.
And Bagoas entered and knocked on the curtain of the tent, for he supposed that he was sleeping with Judith.
δ᾿ οὐθεὶς ἐπήκουσεν διαστείλας εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν κοιτῶνα καὶ εὗρεν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῆς χελωνίδος ἐρριμμένον νεκρόν καὶ ἡ κεφαλὴ αὐτοῦ ἀφῄρητο ἀπ᾿ αὐτοῦ
But when no one had listened, after giving the order she went into the bedchamber and found him thrown upon the bed, dead, and his head had been removed from him
And he cried out with a loud voice, with weeping and groaning and a strong shout, and he tore his garments
εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν σκηνήν οὗ ἦν Ιουδιθ καταλύουσα καὶ οὐχ εὗρεν αὐτήν καὶ ἐξεπήδησεν εἰς τὸν λαὸν καὶ ἐβόησεν
And he went into the tent where Judith was staying, and did not find her, and he sprang out to the people and cried out.
οἱ δοῦλοι ἐποίησεν αἰσχύνην μία γυνὴ τῶν Εβραίων εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ βασιλέως Ναβουχοδονοσορ ὅτι ἰδοὺ Ολοφέρνης χαμαί καὶ ἡ κεφαλὴ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ
The slaves were disobedient; one woman of the Hebrews brought shame into the house of King Nebuchadnezzar, for behold, Holofernes is on the ground, and the head is not on him.
δὲ ἤκουσαν ταῦτα τὰ ῥήματα οἱ ἄρχοντες τῆς δυνάμεως Ασσουρ τοὺς χιτῶνας αὐτῶν διέρρηξαν καὶ ἐταράχθη αὐτῶν ἡ ψυχὴ σφόδρα καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῶν κραυγὴ καὶ βοὴ μεγάλη σφόδρα ἐν μέσῳ τῆς παρεμβολῆς
And when the rulers of the force of Asshur heard these words, they tore their tunics, and their soul was greatly troubled, and there became among them a cry and a very great outcry in the midst of the camp.
