And the Lord said to Moses, saying: Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and you shall say to them: They shall not be defiled for the dead among their people.

except only for his own nearest kin, for father and for mother and for sons and for daughters, for brother

and for a virgin sister, one who is near to him, who has not been given to a man, for these he shall be defiled

He shall not be defiled suddenly among his people, to profane himself.

And you shall not shave a bald spot on your head for the dead, and they shall not shave the side of the beard, and they shall not make cuts in their flesh with cuttings.

They shall be holy to their God, and they shall not profane the name of their God, for they themselves offer the sacrifices of the Lord, the gifts of their God, and they shall be holy.

They shall not take a harlot woman and a profaned woman, and a woman cast out from her husband, for he is holy to the Lord his God.

And he shall sanctify him with the gifts of the Lord your God; this one offers them, he shall be holy, because I am holy, the Lord who sanctifies them.

And the daughter of a man, a priest, if she is profaned to fornicate, the name of her father she profanes; she shall be burned with fire.

And the great priest from among his brothers, on whose head the oil of anointing has been poured and who has been consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, and he shall not tear his garments.

And he shall not go in to any dead person; for his father or for his mother he shall not be defiled.

And he shall not go out from the holy things, and he shall not profane the sanctuary of his God, because the holy oil of the anointing of his God is upon him; I am the Lord

This one shall take a virgin woman from his own family.

A widow and one cast out and profaned and a harlot, these he shall not take; but only a virgin from his own kin he shall take as a wife.

And he shall not profane his offspring among his people; I am the Lord, the one who sanctifies him.

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying

Speak to Aaron: A man from your family throughout your generations, whoever there may be in him a blemish, shall not approach to offer the gifts of his God.

No man in whom there is a blemish shall draw near: a man lame or blind or with a broken nose or with a cut-off ear

or a man in whom is a broken hand or a broken foot

or humpbacked or with a cloudy eye or one with a running sore in his eyes or a man in whom there may be scab or itch or one with crushed testicles

No man of the seed of Aaron the priest in whom there is a blemish shall draw near to offer the sacrifices to your God, because there is a blemish in him; he shall not come near to offer the gifts of God.

He shall eat the gifts of God, the most holy things, and from the holy things.

Only to the veil he shall not draw near, and to the altar he shall not come near, because he has a blemish; and he shall not profane the holy place of his God, because I am the Lord who sanctifies them.

And Moses spoke to Aaron and to his sons and to all the sons of Israel
