1
And you, Bethlehem, house of Ephratha, are too little to be among the thousands of Judah; from you there shall go out to me one to be ruler in Israel, and his goings out are from the beginning, from days of old.
3
And he shall stand and see and shall shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord and in the glory of the name of the Lord their God; they shall exist, for now he shall be magnified even to the ends of the earth.
4
And this one shall be peace when the Assyrian comes upon your land and when he steps upon your country, and seven shepherds and eight bites of men shall be raised up against him
5
And they shall shepherd Asshur with the sword and the land of Nebrod with its trench; and he shall deliver from Asshur when he comes upon your land and when he steps upon your borders.
6
And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like dew from the Lord falling, and like lambs on grass, so that no one may gather or stand among the sons of men.
7
And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among cattle in the forest, and like a young lion among flocks of sheep, in the manner that when he passes through and tears apart, he seizes and there is none to rescue.
