A psalm of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning the words of Cush the son of Iemeni

O Lord my God, on you I have hoped; save me from all who persecute me, and rescue me

lest he snatch my soul like a lion, while there is no one rescuing nor saving

O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is injustice in my hands,

If I repaid evil to those repaying me, then let me fall away empty from my enemies.

Let the enemy then pursue my soul and overtake and trample my life to the ground, and make my glory dwell in the dust. Selah

Arise, O Lord, in your anger; be exalted at the ends of my enemies. Be roused, O Lord my God, by the decree that you commanded.

And a congregation of peoples will surround you, and over this return to the height.

The Lord will judge peoples. Judge me, Lord, according to my righteousness and according to my innocence over me.

Let the wickedness of sinners now be brought to an end, and you will guide the righteous, testing hearts and kidneys, O God.

My help is from God, who saves the upright in heart.

God is a righteous and strong and long-suffering judge, not bringing wrath every day.

If you do not turn back, he will polish his sword; he has bent his bow and prepared it.

And in it he prepared vessels of death; his arrows he made for those burning.

Behold, he conceived unrighteousness, he has conceived labor, and he gave birth to lawlessness.

He dug a pit and opened it and will fall into a hole which he made.

His trouble will return on his own head, and his injustice will come down on his own crown.

I will give thanks to the Lord according to his righteousness, and I will sing to the name of the Lord the Most High
