The Koine Bible

For the end, to David, a psalm. O God, do not be silent concerning my praise.

For the mouth of a sinner and the mouth of a deceitful one have been opened against me; they spoke against me with a deceitful tongue.

and with words of hatred they surrounded me and fought against me without cause

In return for my loving, they slandered me; but I was praying.

And they set evils against me in place of good things, and hatred in place of my love.

Set over him a sinner, and let an accuser stand at his right hand.

When he is judged, may he come out condemned, and may his prayer become into sin.

May his days be few, and may another take his office.

May his sons become orphans, and his wife a widow.

Let his children wander and beg, and let them be cast out of their ruined houses.

Let the creditor search out all that is his; let strangers plunder the fruits of his labor.

Let there be none to help him, nor let anyone become compassionate to his fatherless children.

Let his children become for destruction; in one generation let his name be blotted out

May the lawlessness of his fathers be remembered before the Lord, and may the sin of his mother not be blotted out.

Let them be before the Lord continually, and let their memorial be cut off from the earth.

Because he did not remember to do mercy, and he persecuted a poor and needy man and one pierced in heart, to put him to death

And he loved cursing, and it will come to him, and he did not want blessing, and it will be far from him

And he put on cursing as a garment, and it entered like water into his inward parts and like oil into his bones

Let it be to him as a garment which he wraps himself in, and as a belt with which he continually girds himself around.

This is the work of those who slander me before the Lord and of those who speak evil against my soul.

And you, Lord, Lord, do mercy with me for the sake of your name, because your mercy is good

Deliver me, for I am poor and needy, and my heart has been troubled within me

I have become like a shadow when it is bending away; I have been shaken off like locusts

My knees have weakened from fasting, and my flesh has changed because of oil.

And I became a reproach to them; when they saw me, they shook their heads.

Help me, Lord my God; save me according to your mercy.

And let them know that this hand of yours is, and you, O Lord, made it.

They will curse, but you will bless; let those rising up against me be put to shame, but your servant will rejoice.

Let those who slander me be clothed with shame, and let them wrap themselves in their disgrace as in a double cloak.

I will give thanks to the Lord very much with my mouth, and in the midst of many I will praise him

because he stood at the right hand of the poor, to save from those who pursued my soul
