O God, in our ears we have heard; our fathers have declared to us a work which you worked in their days, in ancient days.
Your hand destroyed nations, and you planted them; you afflicted peoples and drove them out.
For it was not by their sword that they inherited land, and their arm did not save them, but your right hand and your arm and the light of your face, because you were well pleased in them.
You are my King and my God, the one commanding the salvations of Jacob
In you we will push down our enemies with the horn, and in your name we will bring to nothing those rising up against us
For I will not hope in my bow, and my sword will not save me.
For you saved us from those afflicting us, and you put to shame those who hate us.
In God we will be praised all the day, and in your name we will give thanks forever. Selah
But now you have rejected us and put us to shame, and you will not go out with our armies.
You have turned us back before our enemies, and those who hate us were plundering for themselves
You gave us over like sheep for food, and among the nations you scattered us
You sold your people for nothing, and there was no multitude in their exchanges.
You have made us a reproach to our neighbors, a derision and a mocking to those around us.
You have made us a proverb among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
All day long my shame is before me, and the shame of my face has covered me
because of the voice of the one reproaching and reviling, because of the face of an enemy and one pursuing
All these things have come upon us, and we have not forgotten you, and we have not acted unjustly in your covenant.
And our heart did not turn back, and you turned our paths aside from your way
For you have humbled us in a place of affliction, and the shadow of death has covered us
If we have forgotten the name of our God and if we have spread out our hands to a strange god
Will not God seek out these things? For he himself knows the hidden things of the heart.
For because of you we are put to death all the day; we were considered as sheep of slaughter
Awake; why do you sleep, O Lord? Arise, and do not cast off forever.
Why do you turn away your face, and forget our poverty and our affliction?
For our soul has been humbled to dust; our belly has clung to the earth.
Arise, O Lord, help us and redeem us for the sake of your name.
