Forgive the wrong of your neighbor, and then, when you have prayed, your sins will be loosed.
A man keeps anger for a man, and from the Lord he seeks healing.
Toward a man like himself he has no mercy, and for his sins he makes supplication
He himself, being flesh, preserves wrath; who will make atonement for his sins?
Remember the last things and cease from hating, destruction and death, and abide in commandments
Remember commandments and do not bear a grudge against your neighbor, and the covenant of the Most High, and overlook ignorance.
Keep away from strife and you will lessen sins, for a man prone to anger will kindle strife
And a sinful man will stir up friends and will cast slander among those making peace
τὴν ὕλην τοῦ πυρὸς οὕτως ἐκκαυθήσεται καὶ κατὰ τὴν στερέωσιν τῆς μάχης ἐκκαυθήσεται κατὰ τὴν ἰσχὺν τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ὁ θυμὸς αὐτοῦ ἔσται καὶ κατὰ τὸν πλοῦτον ἀνυψώσει ὀργὴν αὐτοῦ
As the fuel of the fire, so it will be burned up, and according to the strengthening of the battle it will be burned up; according to a man’s strength, so will his anger be, and according to his wealth he will raise up his wrath.
A hurried strife kindles fire, and a hurried battle pours out blood.
φυσήσῃς εἰς σπινθῆρα ἐκκαήσεται καὶ ἐὰν πτύσῃς ἐπ᾿ αὐτόν σβεσθήσεται καὶ ἀμφότερα ἐκ τοῦ στόματός σου ἐκπορεύεται
If you blow upon a spark, it will be kindled, and if you spit upon it, it will be extinguished; and both come forth from your mouth.
A whisperer and a double-tongued man, curse; for he has destroyed many who were at peace.
τρίτη πολλοὺς ἐσάλευσεν καὶ διέστησεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ ἔθνους εἰς ἔθνος καὶ πόλεις ὀχυρὰς καθεῖλεν καὶ οἰκίας μεγιστάνων κατέστρεψεν
A third tongue has shaken many and has scattered them from nation to nation, and it has torn down fortified cities and overthrown the houses of princes.
A slanderous tongue has driven out valiant women and deprived them of their labors.
He who gives heed to it will by no means find rest, nor will he dwell with quietness.
The stroke of the whip makes a bruise, but the stroke of the tongue will break bones.
Many have fallen by the mouth of the sword, and not as those who have fallen through the tongue.
ὁ σκεπασθεὶς ἀπ᾿ αὐτῆς ὃς οὐ διῆλθεν ἐν τῷ θυμῷ αὐτῆς ὃς οὐχ εἵλκυσεν τὸν ζυγὸν αὐτῆς καὶ ἐν τοῖς δεσμοῖς αὐτῆς οὐκ ἐδέθη
Blessed is the one who is sheltered from her, who has not passed through in her wrath, who has not dragged her yoke, and has not been bound in her bonds
For her yoke is a yoke of iron, and her bonds are bonds of bronze.
Evil is its death, and profitable rather is its Hades.
It will by no means master the devout, and in its flame they will not be burned.
καταλείποντες κύριον ἐμπεσοῦνται εἰς αὐτήν καὶ ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐκκαήσεται καὶ οὐ μὴ σβεσθῇ ἐπαποσταλήσεται αὐτοῖς ὡς λέων καὶ ὡς πάρδαλις λυμανεῖται αὐτούς
Those who forsake the Lord shall fall into it, and in them it shall be kindled and shall not be quenched; it shall be sent upon them like a lion, and like a leopard it shall ravage them.
See, fence in your possession with thorns, your silver and your gold bind fast by chains
And for your words make a yoke and a weight, and for your mouth make a door and a bolt.
Take heed lest you slip in it, lest you fall before one who lies in wait.
