To the church of God, sanctified in Christ Jesus, the one in Corinth, called to be saints, together with all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, both theirs and ours.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I always thank my God concerning you for the grace of God given to you in Christ Jesus,
because in every way you have been enriched in him, in every word and in all knowledge,
just as the testimony of the Messiah was confirmed in you,
so that you are not lacking in any gift, while you await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
who will also confirm you to the end blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and in the same judgment.
For it has been made known to me about you, my brothers, by Chloe’s people, that there are quarrels among you.
Now I say this, that each of you says, I am of Paul, I am of Apollos, I am of Cephas, I am of Christ.
Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you, or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name.
And I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know if I baptized anyone else.
For Christ did not send me to baptize but to proclaim the gospel, not with wisdom of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be emptied of its power.
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the understanding of the intelligent.
ποῦ σοφός; ποῦ γραμματεύς; ποῦ συζητητὴς τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου; οὐχὶ ἐμώρανεν ὁ θεὸς τὴν σοφίαν τοῦ κόσμου;
Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
For since in the wisdom of God the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased through the foolishness of the message to save those who believe.
Since Jews ask for signs and Greeks seek wisdom,
But we proclaim Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness,
But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
For consider your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many powerful, not many noble.
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong,
And God chose the lowly things of the world and the despised things, the things that are not, so that he might nullify the things that are,
so that no flesh may boast before God.
But from him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, also righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
so that, as it is written, Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.
