See what kind of love the Father has given us that we should be called children of God, and we are. Because of this the world does not know us, for it did not know him.

Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we will be. We know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, because we will see him as he is.

And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself just as he is pure.

Everyone who commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

And you know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and sin is not in him.

No one who remains in him sins; no one who sins has seen him or known him.

Little children, let no one deceive you. The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

The one who practices sin is from the devil, because the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.

Everyone born of God does not commit sin, because his seed remains in him, and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

In this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: everyone who does not practice righteousness is not from God, and the one who does not love his brother.

For this is the message you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

Not as Cain, who was from the evil one and killed his brother; and for what reason did he kill him? Because his works were evil, but those of his brother were righteous.

Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.

We know that we have passed from death into life because we love the brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.

Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him.

In this we have known love, that he laid down his soul for us; and we owe it to lay down our souls for the brothers.

But whoever has the life of the world and sees his brother having need and closes his bowels from him, how does the love of God remain in him?

Little children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and truth.

By this we will know that we are from the truth, and will persuade our heart before him.

For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God,

And whatever we ask, we receive from him because we keep his commandments and do what is pleasing before him.

And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he gave us a commandment.

And the one who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. And by this we know that he remains in us, from the Spirit whom he has given to us.
