The Koine Bible

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Make room for us; we have wronged no one, corrupted no one, taken advantage of no one.

I am not speaking to bring condemnation, for I have already said that you are in our hearts to die together and to live together.

I have great confidence toward you, I have great pride on your behalf; I am filled with encouragement, I overflow with joy in all our affliction.

For when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief at all, but we were afflicted in every way—external battles, internal fears—

But the one who encourages the humble encouraged us God in the presence of Titus.

Not only in his presence, but also in the encouragement with which he was encouraged on your behalf, reporting to us your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I might rejoice even more.

For even if I caused you sorrow in the letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it (I see that the letter caused you sorrow, even if only for a time),

Now I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repentance; for you were grieved according to God, so that you would suffer no loss from us in anything.

For the grief according to God produces repentance leading to salvation without regret; but the grief of the world produces death.

For see how much earnestness this godly sorrow has produced in you—what eagerness, what defense, what indignation, what fear, what longing, what zeal, what vindication. In everything you proved yourselves to be innocent in the matter.

So if I wrote to you, it was not because of the one who did wrong, nor because of the one who was wronged, but so that the earnestness of you on our behalf toward you might be revealed before God.

Because of this we have been comforted. And in our comfort we rejoiced even more over the joy of Titus, that his spirit has been refreshed by all of you.

For if I have boasted to him about you, I was not put to shame, but just as we have spoken everything to you in truth, so also our boasting about Titus proved to be true.

And his inward feelings are more abundant toward you as he remembers all your obedience, how with fear and trembling you received him.

I am glad because in everything I have confidence in you.
