And when the day of Pentecost was being fulfilled, they were all together in one place,

And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting,
And tongues appeared to them, divided as of fire, and rested on each one of them,
And all were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit was giving them to speak.
Now there were residing in Jerusalem devout Jews, men from every nation under heaven.
Now when this sound occurred, the crowd came together and was confused, because each one was hearing them speaking in his own dialect.
And they were all amazed and marveled, saying, Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
And how is it that we each hear in our own language in which we were born?
Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and those living in Mesopotamia, Judea also and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene, and the visiting Romans,
Both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs, we hear them speaking in our own languages the mighty works of God.
And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, What does this mean?
But others, mocking, said they are filled with sweet wine.
But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them: Men of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and listen to my words.
For it is not as you suppose that these are drunk, for it is the third hour of the day,
But this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
And it will be in the last days, God says, that I will pour out from my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your elders will be filled with dreams.
And I will pour out from my Spirit on my male servants and on my female servants in those days, and they will prophesy.
And I will give wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and vapor of smoke;
The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and visible day of the Lord comes.
And it will be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Men of Israel, listen to these words. Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God to you by powers and wonders and signs which God performed through him in your midst, as you yourselves know,
This one, delivered by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
whom God raised up by releasing the pains of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
For David says concerning him: I saw the Lord always before me, because he is at my right hand so that I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced; moreover, even my flesh will dwell in hope.
because you will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor will you allow your holy one to see corruption.
You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.
Brothers, it is proper to speak with boldness to you about the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
Therefore, being a prophet and knowing that God had sworn an oath to him that from the fruit of his loins he would set one on his throne,
Foreseeing, he spoke about the resurrection of the Messiah, that neither was he abandoned to Hades nor did his flesh see corruption.
God raised up this Jesus, of whom all of us are witnesses.
Being exalted at the right hand of God, he received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit and poured out this, which you see and hear.
For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand,
until I place your enemies as a footstool for your feet.
Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.
Ἀκούσαντες δὲ κατενύγησαν τὴν καρδίαν, εἶπόν τε πρὸς τὸν Πέτρον καὶ τοὺς λοιποὺς ἀποστόλους· Τί ποιήσωμεν, ἄνδρες ἀδελφοί;
Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, What shall we do, brothers?
But Peter said to them, Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
For to you is the promise and to your children and to all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.
With many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this crooked generation.
Those who accepted his word were baptized, and about three thousand souls were added that day.
They were continually devoting themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to the prayers.
And fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
All the believers were together and had all things in common,
And they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as anyone had need.
Every day continuing together with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they shared food with gladness and sincerity of heart,
praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to them daily those being saved.
