After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his glory.

And he cried out with a loud voice, saying, Babylon the great has fallen, and it has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit and a prison of every unclean bird and a prison of every unclean and hated beast,

because from the wine of the wrath of her prostitution all the nations have fallen, and the kings of the earth have committed prostitution with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich from the power of her luxury.

And I heard another voice from heaven saying, Come out, my people, from her, so that you may not share in her sins, and so that you may not receive from her plagues.

because her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her injustices.

Repay her as she also repaid, and double according to her works; in the cup which she mixed, mix double for her.

As much as she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, give her torment and mourning to that same degree. Because in her heart she says, I sit as queen, and I am not a widow, and I will never see mourning.

Therefore, in one day her plagues will come: death and mourning and famine, and she will be burned with fire, because the Lord God who judged her is strong.

And the kings of the earth who committed fornication with her and lived luxuriously with her will weep and mourn over her when they see the smoke of her burning,

Standing far off because of the fear of her torment, they were saying, Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon the strong city, because in one hour your judgment has come.

And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargo anymore,

cargo of gold and silver and precious stone and pearl and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every citron wood and every ivory vessel and every vessel of most precious wood and bronze and iron and marble,

and cinnamon and incense and myrrh and frankincense and wine and oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep and horses and chariots and bodies and human souls.

and the fruit of your soul’s desire has gone away from you, and all the rich and splendid things have perished from you, and they will no longer be found.

The merchants of these, who became rich from her, will stand at a distance because of the fear of her torment, crying out and mourning,

Saying, Woe, woe, the great city, clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls,

Because in one hour so great a wealth was laid waste. And every shipmaster and all who travel by ship, and sailors, and as many as work the sea, stood at a distance

And they cried out, seeing the smoke of its burning, saying, Who is like the great city?

And they threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and mourning, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea became rich from her wealth, because in one hour she has been laid waste.

Rejoice over her, heaven, and you holy ones and apostles and prophets, because God has judged your judgment against her.

And a strong angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, Thus with a rush Babylon the great city will be thrown down, and it will not be found anymore.

And the sound of harpists and musicians and flute players and trumpeters will no longer be heard in you, and every craftsman of every craft will no longer be found in you, and the sound of the mill will no longer be heard in you.

And the light of the lamp will no longer shine in you, and the voice of the bridegroom and the bride will no longer be heard in you; because your merchants were the great ones of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery,

And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all those who have been slain on the earth.
