And it came to pass, when David had settled in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Behold, I dwell in a cedar house, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under skins.

And Nathan said to David, Do all that is in your soul, for God is with you.

And it happened in that night, and a word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying:

Go and say to David my servant, Thus says the Lord: you shall not build a house for me for me to dwell in it.

For I have not dwelt in a house from the day that I brought up Israel until this day, and I was in a tent and in a lodging place.

In all places in which I went through, in all Israel, did I ever speak to one tribe of Israel, saying, to shepherd my people, saying, Why have you not built for me a house of cedar?

And now thus you shall say to my servant David, Thus says the Lord Almighty: I took you from the sheepfold, from behind the flocks, to be leader over my people Israel.

and I was with you in all that you went, and I destroyed all your enemies from before you, and I made for you a name according to the name of the great ones on the earth

And I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant it, and it shall dwell by itself and shall no longer be anxious, and injustice shall no longer continue to humble it, as from the beginning.

and from the days when I appointed judges over my people Israel and I humbled all your enemies, and I will increase you, and the Lord will build you a house

And it shall be, when your days are fulfilled and you sleep with your fathers, that I will raise up your seed after you, who will be from your womb, and I will prepare his kingdom

He himself shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.

I will be to him for a father, and he shall be to me for a son; and my mercy I will not remove from him, as I removed from the ones who were before you.

And I will establish him in my house and in his kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever

According to all these words and according to this whole vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

And King David came and sat before the Lord and said, Who am I, Lord God, and what is my house, that you have loved me until forever?

And these things were made small before you, O God, and you spoke concerning the house of your servant from far off, and you regarded me as a human vision, and you exalted me, O Lord God

What more can David still add to you for the glorifying, and you know your servant.

and according to your heart you have done all this greatness

Lord, there is none like you, and there is none besides you, according to all that we have heard in our ears.

And there is not like your people Israel another nation yet on the earth, as God led him to redeem for himself a people, to make for himself a great and glorious name, to cast out from before your people whom I redeemed out of Egypt nations.

And you gave your people Israel to yourself as a people forever, and you, O Lord, became God to them.

And now, Lord, let your word which you spoke concerning your servant and concerning his house be confirmed forever.

saying, O Lord, O Lord Almighty, God of Israel, and the house of David your servant, established before you

For you, Lord, have opened the ear of your servant to build for him a house; therefore your servant has found to pray before you

And now, Lord, you are yourself God, and you have spoken concerning your servant these good things

And now you have begun to bless the house of your servant, for it to be forever before you, because you, O Lord, have blessed, and bless forever
