And the Ashdodites rose early and entered into the house of Dagon, and they saw, and behold, Dagon had fallen on his face before the ark of God, and they raised up Dagon and set him in his place. And the hand of the Lord was heavy on the Ashdodites, and he afflicted them and struck them in their seats, Ashdod and its borders.

And it happened when they rose early in the morning, and behold, Dagon had fallen on his face before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold, each in front, and both the wrists of his hands had fallen upon the threshold; only the back of Dagon was left.

Therefore the priests of Dagon do not step on the threshold of the house of Dagon in Ashdod, and everyone who enters into the house of Dagon, upon the threshold of the house of Dagon, until this day, because they step over, they step over.

And the hand of the Lord was heavy upon Ashdod, and he brought upon them, and he caused boils to break out upon them in the ships, and in the midst of its land mice sprang up, and there was a great confusion of death in the city.

And they send and gather the satraps of the foreigners to them, and they say, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And the Gittites say, Let the ark of the God come over to us. And the ark of the God came over into Gath.

And it happened after it had gone away, and the hand of the Lord became in the city a very great turmoil, and it struck the men of the city, from small to great, and it struck them in their seats, and the Gittites made seats for themselves

And they sent out the ark of God to Ashkelon, and it came to pass, as the ark of God entered into Ashkelon, that the Ashkelonites cried out, saying, Why have you turned back the ark of the God of Israel to us, to put to death us and our people?

And they sent and gathered the satraps of the Philistines, and they said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it settle in its place, and it will surely not put us and our people to death, for there was a confusion of death in the whole city, very grievous, since the ark of the God of Israel came in there.
