And they said, If you are sending away the ark of the covenant of the Lord God of Israel, by no means send it away empty, but by returning you shall return to it a payment for the affliction, and then you shall be healed, and his hand shall be propitiated for you; will it not indeed turn away from you?

7
And now take and make a new cart and two cows that have calved, without the offspring, and yoke the cows to the cart, and lead the offspring away from behind them into the house
8
And you shall take the ark and place it on the cart, and the golden vessels you shall return to it as a guilt offering, and you shall put them in a chest by its side, and you shall send it away and drive it away, and it shall go away
9

And the cows went straight on the way toward the road of Bethshemesh; on one path they kept going and lowing, and they did not turn aside to the right nor to the left, and the satraps of the Philistines were going behind it as far as the borders of Bethshemesh
14
And the cart came into the field of Osee, which is in Bethsames, and they set there beside it a great stone, and they cut up the wood of the cart, and they offered up the cows as a whole burnt offering to the Lord.
15

19
And the sons of Jechonius did not rejoice among the men of Bethshemesh, because they saw the ark of the Lord; and he struck among them seventy men and fifty thousand men, and the people mourned because the Lord struck a very great plague among the people.
