And Samuel took the flask of oil and poured it on his head and kissed him and said to him, Has not the Lord anointed you as ruler over his people, over Israel? And you shall rule among the people of the Lord, and you shall save him from the hand of his enemies all around. And this is to you the sign that the Lord has anointed you over his inheritance as ruler.

When you go away today from me, you will find two men by the tombs of Rachel in the boundary of Benjamin, leaping greatly, and they will say to you, The donkeys that you went to seek have been found, and behold, your father has shaken off the matter of the donkeys and has made himself anxious on your account, saying, What shall I do about my son?

And you shall go on from there and farther you shall come as far as the oak of Tabor, and you shall find there three men going up to God at Bethel, one carrying three kids, and one carrying three loaves of bread, and one carrying a skin of wine

And after these things you shall enter into the hill of God, where is there the garrison of the Philistines, there Nasib the Philistine; and it shall be when you enter there into the city, that you shall meet a chorus of prophets coming down from the Bamah, and before them a harp and tambourine and flute and lyre, and they themselves prophesying.

And you shall go down before Gilgal, and behold, I am coming down to you to offer up burnt offerings and peace offerings; seven days you shall wait until my coming to you, and I will make known to you what you shall do.

And it came to pass that all who knew him yesterday and the third day saw, and behold, he was among the prophets; and the people said each to his neighbor, What is this that has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?

And he said to the sons of Israel, Thus says the Lord the God of Israel, saying, I brought up the sons of Israel out of Egypt, and I rescued you from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt and from all the kingdoms that oppressed you.

And you today have despised God, who himself is your savior from all your evils and your afflictions, and you said, No, but rather, you shall set a king over us; and now stand before the Lord by your tribes and by your clans

And he brought forward the tribe of Benjamin by clans, and the tribe of Matri was taken by lot, and they brought forward the tribe of Matri by men, and Saul son of Kish was taken by lot, and they sought him and he was not found

And Samuel said to all the people, If you have seen whom the Lord has chosen for himself, because there is none like him among all of you. And all the people knew and said, Let the king live.

And Samuel said to the people the ordinance of the king, and he wrote it in a book and set it before the Lord, and Samuel sent away all the people, and each went to his place.
