And the matter appeared evil in Saul’s eyes because of this word, and he said to David, They have given the myriads, and to me they have given the thousands.
And Saul commanded his servants, saying, Speak to David secretly, saying, Behold, the king desires you, and all his servants love you; therefore be son-in-law to the king.
And the servants of Saul spoke these words in the ears of David, and David said, Is it a light thing in your eyes to become son-in-law to the king? And I am a humble man and not honored.
And Saul said, Thus you shall say to David, The king does not wish a bride-price, except in one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to take vengeance on the king’s enemies. And Saul thought to throw him into the hands of the Philistines.
And David arose and went, he and his men, and he struck among the Philistines a hundred men, and he brought up their foreskins to the king, and the king made him his son-in-law, and gave him Michal his daughter, for a wife.
