And David went away from there and was saved, and comes to the cave of Odollam; and his brothers hear, and his father’s house, and they go down to him there.
And everyone in distress and everyone in debt and everyone bitter in soul gathered to him, and he became leader over them, and there were with him about four hundred men
And David went away from there to Massepha of Moab, and he said to the king of Moab, Let now my father and my mother be with you until I know what God will do for me.

And Saul heard that David and the men who were with him had been made known; and Saul was sitting on the hill under the field that is in Ramah, and the spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing beside him.
And Saul said to his servants who stood by him, and said to them, Hear now, sons of Benjamin: will the son of Jesse truly give to all of you fields and vineyards, and will he appoint all of you commanders of hundreds and commanders of thousands?
for you are all conspiring against me, and there is no one who discloses my ear when my son made a covenant with the son of Jesse, and there is no one among you grieved for me and disclosing my ear, because my son has stirred up my servant against me as an enemy, as this day
And Saul said to him, Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, to give him bread and a sword, and to inquire of God for him, to set him against me as an enemy, as this day?
And he answered the king and said, And who among all your servants is like David, faithful and the king’s son-in-law and ruler over all your command and honored in your house?
Did I today begin to inquire of him by means of God? Far be it! Let not the king give any word against his servant and against all the house of my father, because your servant knew nothing in all these things, small or great.
And the king said to the runners standing by him, Bring near and put to death the priests of the Lord, because their hand is with David and because they knew that he was fleeing, and they did not disclose my ear; and the servants of the king were not willing to stretch out their hands to meet the priests of the Lord.
And the king said to Doeg, Turn you and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Syrian turned and put to death the priests of the Lord in that day, three hundred and five men, all of them wearing ephod.
And David said to Abiathar, I knew on that day that Doeg the Syrian, because he would surely report to Saul, I am guilty of the lives of your father’s house.
