1
And it happened in those days that the Philistines were gathered together in their camps to go out to make war with Israel, and Achish said to David, knowing with knowledge that you and your men will go out with me into war.
7
And Saul said to his servants, Seek for me a woman with a medium spirit, and I will go to her and inquire through her. And his servants said to him, Behold, a woman with a medium spirit is in Endor.
8
And Saul disguised himself and put on other garments, and he went, he and two men with him, and they come to the woman by night; and he said to her, Divinate, please, for me by the ventriloquist, and bring up for me whomever I may say to you.
9
And the woman said to him, Behold now, you know what Saul did, how he destroyed from the land the ventriloquists and the wizards; and why do you lay a snare for my soul to put it to death?
14
And he said to her, What have you seen? And she said to him, A man upright coming up out of the earth, and he was clothed with a double cloak. And Saul knew that this was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and did obeisance to him.
15
And Samuel said, Why have you troubled me by bringing me up? And Saul said, I am greatly distressed, and the Philistines are making war against me, and God has turned away from me and has not answered me any longer, both by the hand of the prophets and in dreams; and now I have called you to make known to me what I shall do.
19
And the Lord will hand over Israel with you into the hands of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons with you will fall, and the camp of Israel the Lord will give into the hands of the Philistines.
20
And Saul hurried and fell standing upon the ground, and he was greatly afraid because of the words of Samuel, and strength was no longer in him, for he had not eaten bread all that day and all that night.
21
And the woman went in to Saul and saw that he had hurried very much, and she said to him, Behold now, your maidservant has listened to your voice, and I put my life in my hand, and I listened to the words which you spoke to me.
