And Pharaoh Neco appointed Eliakim son of Josiah king of Judah in place of Josiah his father, and he changed his name to Jehoiakim; and Jehoahaz his brother Pharaoh Neco took and brought him into Egypt, and he died there.
Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother was Zebudda, daughter of Pedaiah, of Ramah, and he did what was evil before the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
And the rest of the words of Jehoiakim and all that he did, behold, are not these things written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah? And Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and aside in Ganoza with his fathers, and Jeconiah his son reigned instead of him.
Jeconiah was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem, and he did what was evil before the Lord
And when the year returned, King Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him into Babylon, with the desirable vessels of the house of the Lord; and he made Zedekiah, the brother of his father, king over Judah and Jerusalem.
in his breaking the things toward King Nebuchadnezzar, which he had sworn to him by God, and he hardened his neck and made his heart strong so as not to turn back to the Lord God of Israel
And all the illustrious ones of Judah and the priests and the people of the land multiplied to act faithlessly, the faithless acts of the abominations of the nations, and they defiled the house of the Lord that was in Jerusalem.
And the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent by the hand of the prophets, rising early and sending his messengers, because he was sparing his people and his sanctuary.
And they were mocking his angels and making light of his words and scoffing at his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord went up in his people, until there was no healing.
And he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, and he killed their young men with the sword in the house of his sanctuary, and he did not spare Zedekiah, and they did not pity their virgins, and their elders they led away; he gave all into their hands.
And all the vessels of the house of God, the great and the small, and the treasuries, and all the treasures of the king and of the magnates, he brought all into Babylon.
to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had accepted her sabbaths; all the days of its desolation it kept sabbath, to fulfill seventy years
In the first year of Cyrus king of the Persians, after the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah had been fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of the Persians, and he gave orders to proclaim throughout all his kingdom in writing, saying:
Thus says Cyrus king of the Persians: all the kingdoms of the earth the Lord, the God of heaven, has given to me, and he himself has commanded me to build for him a house in Jerusalem in Judea. Who among you, from all his people, will there be? His God be with him, and let him go up.
