This same Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord the God of Israel had given; and the king granted him, because the hand of the Lord his God was upon him in all things that he sought himself.

And there went up from the sons of Israel and from the priests and from the Levites and the singers and the gatekeepers and the Nathinim to Jerusalem in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king

For on the first of the first month he began the ascent from Babylon, and on the first of the fifth month they came to Jerusalem, because the hand of his God was good upon him.

and all silver and gold which you may find in all the land of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people and of the priests who are offering willingly to the house of God that is in Jerusalem

and everything that comes to this place, set down promptly in this book: calves, rams, lambs, and their sacrifices, and their drink offerings, and you shall bring them upon the altar of the house of your God that is in Jerusalem

And from me, I, Arthasastha the king, have issued a decree to all the treasuries that are beyond the river, that everything which Ezra the priest and scribe of the law of the God of heaven may ask of you, let it be done readily.

Let everything that is in the will of the God of heaven be done; take care lest anyone attempt against the house of the God of heaven, lest wrath come upon the kingdom of the king and his sons.
24
And to you it has been made known among all the priests and the Levites, the singers, gatekeepers, Nethinim, and servants of this house of God: let there be no tribute to you; you shall not have authority to enslave them.
25
And you, Esdras, as the wisdom of God is in your hand, appoint scribes and judges, that they may be judging all the people beyond the river, to all who know the law of your God, and to the one who does not know, you shall make known.
26
And everyone who does not be doing the law of God and the law of the king, promptly the judgment shall be coming upon him, whether for death, whether for discipline, whether for loss of life, whether for bonds.

And mercy inclined toward me in the eyes of the king and of his counselors and of all the princes of the king who were exalted, and I was strengthened as the good hand of God upon me, and I gathered from Israel leaders to go up with me
