And Eliu said to Elisaa, Sit here, please, for the Lord has sent me as far as Bethel. And Elisaa said, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. And they came to Bethel.
And the sons of the prophets who were in Bethel came to Elisha and said to him, Have you known that the Lord today takes your lord away from above your head? And he said, I also have known; be silent.
And Eliu said to Elisha, Sit down here, please, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho. And Elisha said, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, if I will leave you. And they came to Jericho.
And the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho came near to Elisha and said to him, Have you known that today the Lord is taking your lord away from above your head? And he said, Yes, indeed, I know; be silent.
And Eliu said to him, Sit now here, for the Lord has sent me as far as the Jordan. And Elisai said, As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, if I will leave you. And they both went on.
And it happened, when they crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, Ask what I shall do for you before I am taken up from you. And Elisha said, Let there be then a double portion in your spirit upon me.
And Elie said, You have been hardened in asking. If you should see me being taken up from you, it shall be so for you; and if not, it shall certainly not happen.
And it came to pass, while they were going, that they went on and spoke, and behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire, and they separated between them both, and Elijah was taken up in a whirlwind as into the heaven
And Elisha was seeing and he kept crying out, My father, my father, chariot of Israel and his horseman! and he saw him no longer, and he took hold of his garments and tore them into two pieces
And he took the cloak of Elijah, which had fallen from above him, and struck the water, and it did not part. And he said, Where is the God of Elijah, even he? And he struck the waters, and they were split here and there, and Elisha crossed over.
And the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho saw him from opposite side, and they said, The spirit of Elijah has rested upon Elisha. And they came to meet him and bowed down to him on the ground.
And they said to him, Behold now, with your servants are fifty men, sons of strength; let them go now and seek your lord, lest perhaps the Spirit of the Lord has taken him up and thrown him in the Jordan, or on one of the mountains, or on one of the hills. And Elisha said, You shall not send.
And Elisha went out to the outlet of the waters and threw salt there and said, Thus says the Lord: I heal these waters; from there there shall no longer be death and barrenness.
And he went up from there to Bethel, and as he was going up on the way, little boys came out from the city and mocked him, and they said to him, Go up, baldhead; go up.
And he turned back after them and saw them and cursed them in the name of the Lord, and behold, two bears came out from the woodland and tore apart forty-two of the boys from them
