And he did the evil in the eyes of the Lord, except not as his father and not as his mother; and he removed the pillars of Baal, which his father had made.
And Mesha king of Moab was a sheep-master, and he used to turn over to the king of Israel in the revolt one hundred thousand lambs and one hundred thousand rams, with the wool.
And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab has revolted against me; will you go with me to Moab to war? And he said, I will go up; I am like you, my people like your people, my horses like your horses.
And the king of Israel went and the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they went around a way of seven days, and there was no water for the camp and for the cattle that were under their feet
And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, and let us seek the Lord by him? And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, Here is Elisha son of Shaphat, who poured water on Elijah’s hands.
And Jehoshaphat said, There is with him a word of the Lord. And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah and the king of Edom went down to him.
And Elisha said to the king of Israel, What is there between me and you? Go to the prophets of your father. And the king of Israel said to him, Not that the Lord has called the three kings to give them into the hand of Moab?
And Elisha said, As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely if I did not regard the face of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not have looked toward you or seen you.
For thus says the Lord: you shall not see wind, and you shall not see rain, and this wadi shall be filled with water, and you shall drink, you and your possessions and your livestock.
and you shall strike every fortified city and every good tree you shall throw down, and all springs of water you shall stop up, and every good plot you shall make useless with stones
And it came to pass in the morning, at the time of the offering ascending, and behold, waters were coming from the way of Edom, and the land was filled with water
And all Moab heard that the kings had gone up to fight against them, and they shouted, from every one girded with a belt and upward, and they stood at the border.
And they entered into the camp of Israel, and Israel rose up and struck Moab, and they fled from before them, and they entered, going in and striking Moab
And they tore down the cities and threw every good piece of land, each man a stone, and filled it, and they stopped up every spring of water and cut down every good tree, until only the stones of the wall were left in ruins, and the slingers went around and struck it.
And the king of Moab saw that the war was too strong for him, and he took with himself seven hundred men drawn sword to break through to the king of Edom, but they were not able.
And he took his son, his firstborn, who reigned in his place, and offered him up as a whole burnt offering on the wall, and there was great wrath against Israel, and they departed from him and returned to the land
