And Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets and said to him, Gird up your loins and take this flask of oil in your hand and go to Ramoth Gilead.

And you shall go in there, and you shall see Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and you shall go in and raise him up from among his brothers, and you shall bring him into the inner room in the inner room.

and you shall take the flask of the oil and pour it on his head and say, Thus says the Lord: I have anointed you king over Israel, and you shall open the door and flee, and you shall not remain

And the young man, the prophet, went to Ramoth Gilead.

And he entered, and behold, the commanders of the force were sitting. And he said, A word to me from the commander is to you. And Iehu said, To whom of all of us? And he said, To you, the commander.

And he rose and entered into the house, and he poured the oil upon his head and said to him, Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: I have anointed you as king over the people of the Lord, over Israel.

And you shall utterly destroy the house of Ahab your lord from before me, and you shall avenge the bloods of my servants the prophets and the bloods of all the servants of the Lord at the hand of Jezebel.

and from the hand of all the house of Ahab, and you shall utterly destroy to the house of Ahab every male and the shut up and the left in Israel

and I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah

And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there is no one burying her. And he opened the door and fled.

And Jehu came out to the servants of his master, and they said to him, Is all well? Why did this madman come in to you? And he said to them, You know the man and his talk.

And they said, Declare it now to us. And Jehu said to them, Thus and thus he spoke to me, saying, Thus says the Lord: I have anointed you as king over Israel.

And they hurried and each took his garment and put it under him on the bare steps, and they sounded with a horn and said, Jehu has become king

And Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi conspired against Joram, and Joram himself was guarding at Ramoth-gilead, he and all Israel, from before Hazael king of Syria.

And Joram the king returned to be healed in Jezreel from the wounds with which the Syrians had wounded him when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Jehu said, If it is your mind with me, let no one go out from the city to escape to go and report in Jezreel.

And Jehu mounted and went and went down to Jezreel, because Joram king of Israel was being treated in Jezreel from the arrows with which the Arameans had shot him in Ramath in the war with Hazael king of Syria, because he was mighty and a man of power; and Ahaziah king of Judah had gone down to see Joram

And the watchman went up on the tower in Jezreel and saw Jehu’s dust as he was coming, and he said, I see dust; and Joram said, Take a rider and send before them, and let him say, Is it peace?

And a horseman went to meet them, and he said, Thus says the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What have you to do with peace? Turn behind me. And the watchman reported, saying, The messenger came even to them, and he did not return.

And he sent a second horseman, and he came to him and said, Thus says the king: Is there peace? And Jehu said, What have you to do with peace? Turn back behind me.

And the watchman reported, saying, He came as far as them and did not turn back; and the one driving was driving Jehu son of Namessiu, for he came in a mad way.

And Joram said, Harness up, and he harnessed the chariot, and Joram king of Israel went out, and Ahaziah king of Judah, each man in his chariot, and they went out to meet Jehu, and they found him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.

And it happened, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And Jehu said, What peace, still the whorings of Jezebel your mother and her many sorceries?

And Joram turned his hands to flee and said to Ahaziah, Treachery, Ahaziah.

And Jehu filled his hand with the bow and struck Joram between his arms, and the arrow went out through his heart, and he bent down upon his knees.

And Jehu said to Badekar his third captain, Throw him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite, for I remember that I and you, riding behind Ahab his father, and the Lord took up this burden against him, saying:

Surely I saw yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons, says the Lord, and I will repay him in this portion, says the Lord. And now, take him up and throw him in this portion, according to the word of the Lord.

And Ahaziah king of Judah saw, and he fled by the way of Beth-gan; and Jehu pursued after him and said, And him too, and struck him in the chariot at the ascent of Gur, which is near Ibleam; and he fled to Megiddo and died there.

And his servants mounted him on the chariot and brought him to Jerusalem and buried him in his tomb in the city of David

And in the eleventh year of Joram king of Israel, Ahaziah reigned over Judah.

And Jehu came to Jezreel, and Jezebel heard, and she painted her eyes and adorned her head and looked down through the window.

And Jehu entered into the city, and she said, Is it peace, Zimri, murderer of his lord?

And he lifted up his face to the window and saw her, and he said, Who are you? Come down with me. And two eunuchs leaned toward him.

And he said, Roll her down, and they rolled her down, and some of her blood was sprinkled toward the wall and toward the horses, and they trampled her.

And Jehu went in and ate and drank, and he said, Examine now this accursed woman and bury her, for she is a king’s daughter.

And they went to bury her, and they found in her nothing else except the skull and the feet and the tracks of the hands.

And they turned back and reported to him, and he said, The word of the Lord, which he spoke by the hand of his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel the dogs shall eat up the flesh of Jezebel

And the corpse of Jezebel shall be like dung on the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, so that they will not say, Jezebel.
