And two men, leaders of bands, were to Mephibosheth son of Saul: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the second Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, from the sons of Benjamin; because Beeroth was reckoned to the sons of Benjamin.
And to Jonathan son of Saul there was a son, one who was crippled in the feet, a son of five years. He was when the report of Saul and Jonathan his son came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled; and it happened, in her hastening to withdraw, that he fell and became lame, and his name was Mephibosheth.
And the sons of Rimmon the Berothite, Rechab and Baanah, went and entered in the heat of the day into the house of Mephibosheth, and he himself was sleeping in the couch at noon.
And behold, the doorkeeper of the house was cleaning wheat, and she grew drowsy and was sleeping, and Rekcha and Baana, the brothers, slipped through unnoticed.
And they entered into the house, and Mephibosthe was sleeping on his bed in his bedroom, and they struck him and put him to death and removed his head, and they took his head and went away by the road toward the west all the night.
And they brought the head of Mephibosheth to David at Hebron, and they said to the king, Behold, the head of Mephibosheth the son of Saul your enemy, who was seeking your life; and the Lord has given to my lord the king vengeance on his enemies, as this day, from Saul your enemy and from his offspring.
And David answered Rekhah and Baana his brother, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my soul from every affliction,
because the one who reported to me, saying, Saul has died, even he was as one bringing good news before me, and I seized him and killed him in Ziklag, whom I should have given as good news
And now wicked men have killed a righteous man in his house, on his bed, and now I will require his blood from your hand, and I will utterly destroy you from the land
And David commanded his young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and their feet, and they hanged them by the spring in Hebron, and they buried the head of Mephibosheth in the tomb of Abennēr son of Ner.
