And David passed on a little from Roos, and behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth came to meet him, and a yoke of donkeys saddled, and on them two hundred loaves and a hundred raisins and a hundred dates and a skin of wine

And the king said to Siba, What are these to you? And Siba said, The donkeys are for the house of the king to ride on, and the bread and the dates for food for the young men, and the wine for drinking for the fainting ones in the wilderness.

And the king said, And where is your master’s son? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he is sitting in Jerusalem, for he said, Today the house of Israel will restore to me the kingdom of my father.

And the king said to Ziba, Behold, yours are all that belong to Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, bowing down, May I find favor in your eyes, my lord, O king.

And King David came as far as Bahurim, and behold, from there a man was going out from the kindred of the house of Saul, and his name was Shimei, son of Gera; he went out going forth and cursing.

and hurling stones at David and all the servants of King David, and all the people were and all the mighty men on the right and on the left of the king

And thus Shimei kept saying as he cursed him: Come out, come out, man of bloods, and lawless man.

The Lord has turned back upon you all the blood of the house of Saul, because you reigned in his place, and the Lord has given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son, and behold, you are in your evil, because you are a man of blood.

And Abessa son of Sarouias said to the king, Why does this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over now and take away his head.

And the king said, What is there to me and to you, sons of Zeruiah? Leave him, and so let him curse, for the Lord has said to him to curse David, and who will say, Why have you done thus?

And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came out from my womb, seeks my life; and moreover now, the son of the Jeminite, leave him to curse, because the Lord has said to him.

perhaps the Lord may look upon my humiliation and may return to me good in place of his curse on this day

And David and his men went on in the way, and Shimei was going on from the side of the mountain, alongside him, going and cursing and stoning with stones from his side and scattering dust.

And the king came, and all his people, exhausted, and they were refreshed there.

And Absalom and all the men of Israel entered into Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

And it happened, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, came to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, Long live the king.

And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this your loyalty to your companion? Why did you not go away with your companion?

And Hushai said to Absalom, No, but I will belong to whomever the Lord and this people and all the men of Israel have chosen, and with him I will be and with him I will remain.

And secondly, to whom shall I serve? Will I not be before his son, as I served before your father? So I shall be before you.

And Abessalom said to Ahitophel, Bring for yourselves counsel: what shall we do?

And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to your father’s concubines, whom he left to keep his house, and all Israel will hear that you have disgraced your father, and the hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.

And they pitched the tent for Abessalom on the roof, and Abessalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.

And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counseled in the earlier days, was as if one inquired by the word of God; so was all the counsel of Ahithophel, both for David and for Absalom.
