And Chousi said, You know your father and his men, that they are very mighty, and bitter in their soul, like a bear bereaved of its cubs in the field, and like a rough wild sow in the plain; and your father is a man of war, and he will by no means let the people rest.

For behold, he himself is now hidden in one of the hills or in one of the places, and it will be, when they fall upon them at the first, that whoever hears will also say, There has been a slaughter among the people after Abessalom.

For thus counseling, I counseled, and being gathered, all Israel will be gathered against you, from Dan even to Beersheba, like the sand that is on the sea for multitude, and your face going in the midst of them

And we will come to him in one of the places whereever we may find him there, and we will encamp against him as the dew falls on the ground, and we will not leave in him and in the men who are with him even one.

And Absalom and every man of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is good beyond the counsel of Ahithophel. And the Lord commanded to scatter the good counsel of Ahithophel, in order that the Lord might bring upon Absalom all the evils.

And Hushai the son of the Archite said to Zadok and Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel, and thus and thus did I counsel.

And now send quickly and report to David, saying, Do not spend the night in the plains of the wilderness, but by all means cross over and hasten, lest perhaps the king and all the people with him be swallowed up.

And Jonathan and Ahimaaz were standing at the spring of Rogel, and the maidservant went and reported to them, and they go and report to King David that they were not able to be seen for entering into the city.

And a boy saw them and reported it to Absalom, and the two went quickly and entered into a man’s house in Bahurim, and he had a pit in the courtyard, and they went down there

And Absalom’s servants came to the woman into the house and said, Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said to them, They went over a little water, and they searched and did not find them, and they returned to Jerusalem.

And it happened after they went away, that they came up out of the pit and went and reported to King David, and they said to David, Rise and cross over the water quickly, for thus Ahithophel has planned concerning you.

And Ahithophel saw that his counsel had not come to pass, and he saddled his donkey and arose and went away to his house, to his city, and he gave charge to his household, and he hanged himself and died, and except in the tomb of his father.

And Absalom appointed Amasa instead of Joab over the army, and Amasa was the son of a man, and his name was Jether the Israelite; this one entered to Abigail, daughter of Nahash, sister of Zeruiah, mother of Joab.

and honey and butter and sheep and cheese of cattle, and they brought to David and to the people with him to eat, because they said, The people are hungry and exhausted and thirsty in the wilderness
