The Koine Bible

Hear this word which the Lord spoke against you, house of Israel, and against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying

Only you have I known from all the tribes of the earth; therefore I will exact punishment upon you for all your sins.

Can two walk together at all, unless they know one another?

Will a lion roar from his thicket when he has no prey? Will a young lion give forth his voice from his den at all, unless he seizes something?

Will a bird fall upon the earth without a fowler? Will a snare be broken upon the earth without having taken something?

If a trumpet sounds in a city, will the people not be terrified? If there is evil in a city, which the Lord has not done?

For the Lord God will surely do nothing unless he reveals his instruction to his servants the prophets

A lion shall roar, and who shall not fear? The Lord God has spoken, and who shall not prophesy?

Proclaim to the lands in Assyria and to the lands of Egypt, and say: Assemble on the mountain of Samaria, and see many wonders in its midst and the oppression that is in it.

and they did not know what will be before it, says the Lord, those who store up injustice and misery in their regions

Therefore thus says the Lord God: Tyre, your land round about shall be laid waste, and he shall break down your strength from you, and your regions shall be plundered.

Thus says the Lord: just as when the shepherd rescues from the lion’s mouth two legs or a piece of an ear, so shall the sons of Israel who dwell in Samaria be rescued, opposite a tribe, and in Damascus, priests.

Hear and testify against the house of Jacob, says the Lord God the Almighty

For on the day when I punish the impieties of Israel upon him, I will also punish the altars of Bethel, and the horns of the altar shall be torn down and shall fall to the ground

I will smash and strike the winter house against the summer house, and ivory houses shall perish, and many other houses shall be added, says the Lord
