νῦν ἦλθον τὴν ἀλήθειαν ὑποδεῖξαί σοι ἰδοὺ τρεῖς βασιλεῖς ἀνθεστήκασιν ἐν τῇ Περσίδι καὶ ὁ τέταρτος πλουτήσει πλοῦτον μέγαν παρὰ πάντας καὶ ἐν τῷ κατισχῦσαι αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ πλούτῳ αὐτοῦ ἐπαναστήσεται παντὶ βασιλεῖ Ἑλλήνων
Now I have come to show you the truth. Behold, three kings have arisen in Persia, and the fourth will become rich with great wealth beyond all, and when he has become strong in his wealth, he will rise up against every king of the Greeks.
And a mighty king shall arise, and he shall rule with great dominion, and he shall do according to his will.
ἐν τῷ ἀναστῆναι αὐτὸν συντριβήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ καὶ μερισθήσεται εἰς τοὺς τέσσαρας ἀνέμους τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οὐ κατὰ τὴν ἀλκὴν αὐτοῦ οὐδὲ κατὰ τὴν κυριείαν αὐτοῦ ἣν ἐδυνάστευσε ὅτι ἀποσταθήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ καὶ ἑτέρους διδάξει ταῦτα
When he has risen, his kingdom will be shattered and divided toward the four winds of heaven, not according to his strength nor according to his dominion with which he ruled, because his kingdom will revolt and teach these things to others.
ἐνισχύσει βασιλείαν Αἰγύπτου καὶ εἷς ἐκ τῶν δυναστῶν κατισχύσει αὐτὸν καὶ δυναστεύσει δυναστεία μεγάλη ἡ δυναστεία αὐτοῦ
He will strengthen the kingdom of Egypt, and one of the rulers will prevail over him and will rule with great dominion; his dominion.
εἰς συντέλειαν ἐνιαυτῶν ἄξει αὐτούς καὶ εἰσελεύσεται βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τὴν βορρᾶ ποιήσασθαι συνθήκας καὶ οὐ μὴ κατισχύσῃ ὅτι ὁ βραχίων αὐτοῦ οὐ στήσει ἰσχύν καὶ ὁ βραχίων αὐτοῦ ναρκήσει καὶ τῶν συμπορευομένων μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ καὶ μενεῖ εἰς ὥρας
At the end of years he will lead them, and the king of Egypt will enter the northern kingdom to make treaties, but he will certainly not prevail, because his arm will not stand firm; his arm will grow numb, and so will those accompanying him, and he will remain for a time.
ἀναστήσεται φυτὸν ἐκ τῆς ῥίζης αὐτοῦ καθ᾿ ἑαυτόν καὶ ἥξει ἐπὶ τὴν δύναμιν αὐτοῦ ἐν ἰσχύι αὐτοῦ βασιλεὺς βορρᾶ καὶ ποιήσει ταραχὴν καὶ κατισχύσει
A shoot will arise from his root by itself, and will come against his power in his own strength, the king of the north; and he will make an upheaval and prevail.
τοὺς θεοὺς αὐτῶν καταστρέψει μετὰ τῶν χωνευτῶν αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς ὄχλους αὐτῶν μετὰ τῶν σκευῶν τῶν ἐπιθυμημάτων αὐτῶν τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὸ χρυσίον ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ ἀποίσουσιν εἰς Αἴγυπτον καὶ ἔσται ἔτος βασιλεῖ βορρᾶ
He will overturn their gods, along with their cast images, and their crowds, along with their vessels of their precious things; the silver and the gold they will carry away into captivity to Egypt, and he will be years to the king of the north.
He will enter the kingdom of Egypt for days and return to his land.
ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐρεθισθήσεται καὶ συνάξει συναγωγὴν ὄχλου πολλοῦ καὶ εἰσελεύσεται κατ᾿ αὐτὴν κατασύρων παρελεύσεται καὶ ἐπιστρέψει καὶ παροξυνθήσεται ἐπὶ πολύ
His son will be provoked and will gather an assembly of a great multitude, and he will enter against it, sweeping it away; he will pass through, then turn back and be greatly enraged.
ὀργισθήσεται βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου καὶ πολεμήσει μετὰ βασιλέως βορρᾶ καὶ παραδοθήσεται ἡ συναγωγὴ εἰς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ
The king of Egypt will be enraged and will wage war with the king of the north, and the assembly will be delivered into his hands.
He will take the assembly, and his heart will be exalted, and he will trouble many, and he shall surely not fear.
ἐπιστρέψει βασιλεὺς βορρᾶ καὶ συνάξει πόλεως συναγωγὴν μείζονα παρὰ τὴν πρώτην κατὰ συντέλειαν καιροῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς αὐτὴν ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν ἐν ὄχλῳ πολλῷ καὶ ἐν χρήμασι πολλοῖς
The king of the north will return and gather a greater assembly of the city than the first, at the end of a year’s time, and he will enter into it against him with a great multitude and with much money.
ἐν τοῖς καιροῖς ἐκείνοις διάνοιαι ἀναστήσονται ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἀνοικοδομήσει τὰ πεπτωκότα τοῦ ἔθνους σου καὶ ἀναστήσεται εἰς τὸ ἀναστῆσαι τὴν προφητείαν καὶ προσκόψουσι
In those times understandings will rise up against the king of Egypt, and he will rebuild the fallen things of your nation, and he will rise up to raise up the prophecy, and they will stumble.
ἐπελεύσεται βασιλεὺς βορρᾶ καὶ ἐπιστρέψει τὰ δόρατα αὐτοῦ καὶ λήψεται τὴν πόλιν τὴν ὀχυράν καὶ οἱ βραχίονες βασιλέως Αἰγύπτου στήσονται μετὰ τῶν δυναστῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται αὐτῷ ἰσχὺς εἰς τὸ ἀντιστῆναι αὐτῷ
A king of the north will come and turn back his weapons and take the fortified city, and the arms of the king of Egypt will stand with his rulers, and there will be no strength in him to withstand him.
ποιήσει ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ ἀνθεστηκὼς ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ καὶ στήσεται ἐν τῇ χώρᾳ καὶ ἐπιτελεσθήσεται πάντα ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτοῦ
The one coming against him will act according to his will, and there will be no one standing against him, and he will stand in the land, and everything will be accomplished in his hands.
δώσει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐπελθεῖν βίᾳ πᾶν τὸ ἔργον αὐτοῦ καὶ συνθήκας μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ ποιήσεται καὶ θυγατέρα ἀνθρώπου δώσει αὐτῷ εἰς τὸ φθεῖραι αὐτήν καὶ οὐ πείσεται καὶ οὐκ ἔσται
He will set his face to come with all the force of his power, and he will make agreements with him, and he will give him a daughter of man to destroy her, but she will not be persuaded, and it will not be.
δώσει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ λήψεται πολλοὺς καὶ ἐπιστρέψει ὀργὴν ὀνειδισμοῦ αὐτῶν ἐν ὅρκῳ κατὰ τὸν ὀνειδισμὸν αὐτοῦ
He will set his face toward the sea and seize many, and he will turn back their reproachful anger with an oath according to his reproach.
His face toward strengthening his land; and he will stumble and fall, and he will not be found.
ἀναστήσεται ἐκ τῆς ῥίζης αὐτοῦ φυτὸν βασιλείας εἰς ἀνάστασιν ἀνὴρ τύπτων δόξαν βασιλέως καὶ ἐν ἡμέραις ἐσχάταις συντριβήσεται καὶ οὐκ ἐν ὀργῇ οὐδὲ ἐν πολέμῳ
A shoot of the kingdom will arise from his root, a man causing the glory of the king to rise; and in the latter days he will be crushed, and not in anger nor in war.
ἀναστήσεται ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ εὐκαταφρόνητος καὶ οὐ δοθήσεται ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν δόξα βασιλέως καὶ ἥξει ἐξάπινα κατισχύσει βασιλεὺς ἐν κληροδοσίᾳ αὐτοῦ
He shall arise in his place, being contemptible, and royal honor shall not be bestowed upon him; and he shall come suddenly and prevail as king through his inheritance.
He will crush the broken arms from before his face.
μετὰ τῆς διαθήκης καὶ δήμου συνταγέντος μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ ποιήσει ψεῦδος καὶ ἐπὶ ἔθνος ἰσχυρὸν ἐν ὀλιγοστῷ ἔθνει
After an alliance has been made with him, he will act deceitfully, and with a small nation he will rise against a strong nation.
ἐρημώσει πόλιν καὶ ποιήσει ὅσα οὐκ ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ οὐδὲ οἱ πατέρες τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ προνομὴν καὶ σκῦλα καὶ χρήματα αὐτοῖς δώσει καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν τὴν ἰσχυρὰν διανοηθήσεται καὶ οἱ λογισμοὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς μάτην
He will lay waste a city and do what his fathers did not do, nor the fathers of his fathers; plunder and spoils and wealth he will give to them, and against the fortified city he will devise plans, but his schemes will be in vain.
ἐγερθήσεται ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου ἐν ὄχλῳ πολλῷ καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου ἐρεθισθήσεται εἰς πόλεμον ἐν ὄχλῳ ἰσχυρῷ σφόδρα λίαν καὶ οὐ στήσεται ὅτι διανοηθήσεται ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν διανοίᾳ
His strength and his heart will rise against the king of Egypt with a great multitude, and the king of Egypt will be stirred up for war with a very exceedingly strong multitude, but he will not stand, because he will devise a scheme against him.
καταναλώσουσιν αὐτὸν μέριμναι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀποστρέψουσιν αὐτόν καὶ παρελεύσεται καὶ κατασυριεῖ καὶ πεσοῦνται τραυματίαι πολλοί
His own concerns will consume him, and they will turn him back, and he will pass away; and he will exercise dominion, and many wounded will fall.
δύο βασιλεῖς μόνοι δειπνήσουσιν ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ καὶ ἐπὶ μιᾶς τραπέζης φάγονται καὶ ψευδολογήσουσι καὶ οὐκ εὐοδωθήσονται ἔτι γὰρ συντέλεια εἰς καιρόν
Two kings alone will dine together and eat at one table, and they will speak lies, and they will not prosper, for there is still an end for an appointed time.
ἐπιστρέψει εἰς τὴν χώραν αὐτοῦ ἐν χρήμασι πολλοῖς καὶ ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ ἁγίου ποιήσει καὶ ἐπιστρέψει ἐπὶ τὴν χώραν αὐτοῦ
He will return to his land with great wealth, and his heart will act against the covenant of the holy one, and he will return to his land.
A time, and he shall enter Egypt, and it shall not be as the first and the last.
ἥξουσι Ῥωμαῖοι καὶ ἐξώσουσιν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐμβριμήσονται αὐτῷ καὶ ἐπιστρέψει καὶ ὀργισθήσεται ἐπὶ τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ ἁγίου καὶ ποιήσει καὶ ἐπιστρέψει καὶ διανοηθήσεται ἐπ᾿ αὐτούς ἀνθ᾿ ὧν ἐγκατέλιπον τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ ἁγίου
Romans will come and drive him out, and they will be indignant at him; and he will turn back and become angry with the covenant of the holy one, and he will act and turn back and devise against them, because they abandoned the covenant of the holy one.
βραχίονες παρ᾿ αὐτοῦ στήσονται καὶ μιανοῦσι τὸ ἅγιον τοῦ φόβου καὶ ἀποστήσουσι τὴν θυσίαν καὶ δώσουσι βδέλυγμα ἐρημώσεως
Arms from him shall stand, and they shall profane the holy place of the Fear, and they shall remove the sacrifice, and they shall give the abomination of desolation.
ἐν ἁμαρτίαις διαθήκης μιανοῦσιν ἐν σκληρῷ λαῷ καὶ ὁ δῆμος ὁ γινώσκων ταῦτα κατισχύσουσι καὶ ποιήσουσι
By transgressions of the covenant they will defile those of the people, but the people who know these things will prevail and act.
ἐννοούμενοι τοῦ ἔθνους συνήσουσιν εἰς πολλούς καὶ προσκόψουσι ῥομφαίᾳ καὶ παλαιωθήσονται ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ καὶ ἐν προνομῇ ἡμερῶν κηλιδωθήσονται
Those who understand among the nation will instruct many, and they will stumble by the sword, and they will be worn out by it, and in captivity and in plunder they will be stained for days.
ὅταν συντρίβωνται συνάξουσιν ἰσχὺν βραχεῖαν καὶ ἐπισυναχθήσονται ἐπ᾿ αὐτοὺς πολλοὶ ἐπὶ πόλεως καὶ πολλοὶ ὡς ἐν κληροδοσίᾳ
When they are being crushed, they will gather a little strength, and many will be gathered against them, many against the city, and many as in an inheritance.
ἐκ τῶν συνιέντων διανοηθήσονται εἰς τὸ καθαρίσαι ἑαυτοὺς καὶ εἰς τὸ ἐκλεγῆναι καὶ εἰς τὸ καθαρισθῆναι ἕως καιροῦ συντελείας ἔτι γὰρ καιρὸς εἰς ὥρας
From those who understand, they will gain insight, to purify themselves, and to be chosen, and to be purified, until the time of the end; for there is still a time until an hour.
ποιήσει κατὰ τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ παροργισθήσεται καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ἐπὶ πάντα θεὸν καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν θεὸν τῶν θεῶν ἔξαλλα λαλήσει καὶ εὐοδωθήσεται ἕως ἂν συντελεσθῇ ἡ ὀργή εἰς αὐτὸν γὰρ συντέλεια γίνεται
And the king shall act according to his will, and shall be enraged and exalted above every god, and against the God of gods he shall speak extraordinary things; and he shall prosper until the wrath is completed, for the end is being brought about against him.
ἐπὶ τοὺς θεοὺς τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ οὐ μὴ προνοηθῇ καὶ ἐν ἐπιθυμίᾳ γυναικὸς οὐ μὴ προνοηθῇ ὅτι ἐν παντὶ ὑψωθήσεται καὶ ὑποταγήσεται αὐτῷ ἔθνη ἰσχυρά
He shall not regard the gods of his fathers, nor shall he regard the desire of a woman, for he shall be exalted above all, and strong nations shall be subjected to him.
τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ κινήσει καὶ θεόν ὃν οὐκ ἔγνωσαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτοῦ τιμήσει ἐν χρυσίῳ καὶ ἀργυρίῳ καὶ λίθῳ πολυτελεῖ καὶ ἐν ἐπιθυμήμασι
He will move his place, and he will honor a god whom his fathers did not know with gold and silver and precious stone and with desirable things.
πόλεων καὶ εἰς ὀχύρωμα ἰσχυρὸν ἥξει μετὰ θεοῦ ἀλλοτρίου οὗ ἐὰν ἐπιγνῷ πληθυνεῖ δόξαν καὶ κατακυριεύσει αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πολὺ καὶ χώραν ἀπομεριεῖ εἰς δωρεάν
He shall come into the cities and into a strong fortress with a foreign god; whoever he recognizes, he shall increase in glory, and he shall make him ruler over many, and he shall apportion land as a gift.
καθ᾿ ὥραν συντελείας συγκερατισθήσεται αὐτῷ ὁ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐποργισθήσεται αὐτῷ βασιλεὺς βορρᾶ ἐν ἅρμασι καὶ ἐν ἵπποις πολλοῖς καὶ ἐν πλοίοις πολλοῖς καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς χώραν Αἰγύπτου
At the time of the conclusion, the king of Egypt will join battle with him, and the king of the north will rage against him with chariots and with many horses and with many ships, and he will enter the land of Egypt.
He will come upon my land
In the land of Egypt there shall be no one surviving in it.
κρατήσει τοῦ τόπου τοῦ χρυσίου καὶ τοῦ τόπου τοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ πάσης τῆς ἐπιθυμίας Αἰγύπτου καὶ Λίβυες καὶ Αἰθίοπες ἔσονται ἐν τῷ ὄχλῳ αὐτοῦ
He will take possession of the place of gold and the place of silver and all the treasures of Egypt, and Libyans and Ethiopians will be in his multitude.
ἀκοὴ ταράξει αὐτὸν ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν καὶ βορρᾶ καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἐν θυμῷ ἰσχυρῷ καὶ ῥομφαίᾳ ἀφανίσαι καὶ ἀποκτεῖναι πολλούς
A report will trouble him from the east and the north, and he will go out in great fury to annihilate and kill many.
στήσει αὐτοῦ τὴν σκηνὴν τότε ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν θαλασσῶν καὶ τοῦ ὄρους τῆς θελήσεως τοῦ ἁγίου καὶ ἥξει ὥρα τῆς συντελείας αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ βοηθῶν αὐτῷ
He will set up his tent then between the seas and the mountain of the will of the holy one, and the hour of his end will come, and there will be no one helping him.
