In the second year of the reign of Nabuchodonosor, Nabuchodonosor dreamed a dream, and his spirit was troubled, and his sleep departed from him.

And the king said to call the enchanters and the magicians and the sorcerers and the Chaldeans, to tell the king his dreams; and they came and stood before the king.

And the king said to them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

And the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Syriac, O king, live forever; tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation.

The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The matter has gone from me; if you do not make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you shall be for destruction, and your houses shall be plundered.

But if you make known to me the dream and its interpretation, you will receive gifts and presents and great honor from me; however, declare to me the dream and its interpretation.

They answered a second time and said, Let the king tell the dream to his servants, and we will declare its interpretation.

The king answered and said, Truly I know that you are buying time, since you have seen that the matter has gone away from me.

If therefore you do not declare the dream to me, I know that you have agreed to speak a false and corrupt word before me, until the time passes; tell me the dream, and I will know that you will declare its interpretation to me.

The Chaldeans answered before the king and say, There is no man on the dry land who will be able to make known the word of the king, because every great king and ruler does not ask such a word of an enchanter, a magician, and a Chaldean.

for the word that the king asks is heavy, and there is no other who will declare it before the king except gods, whose dwelling is not with all flesh

Then the king, in rage and in much anger, said to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

And the decree went out, and the wise men were being killed, and they sought to kill Daniel and his friends.

Then Daniel answered counsel and prudence to Arioch, the chief cook of the king, who had gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon.

He asked the ruler of the king about what the shameless decree had gone out from the presence of the king, and Arioch made the matter known to Daniel.

And Daniel went in and requested of the king that he would give him time, and that he would declare the interpretation to the king.

And Daniel went into his house and made the matter known to Hananiah and to Mishael and to Azariah, his companions.

and they were seeking compassions from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his friends might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon

Then to Daniel in a night vision the mystery was revealed, and he blessed the God of heaven

Daniel and said, Let the name of God be blessed from the age and unto the age, because the wisdom and the understanding are his.

And he changes seasons and times; he sets up kings and removes them, giving wisdom to the wise and understanding to those who know insight.

He reveals deep things and hidden things, knowing the things in the darkness, and the light is with him.

To you, O God of my fathers, I confess and praise, because you have given me wisdom and power, and now you have made known to me what we requested from you, and the vision of the king you have made known to me.

And Daniel came to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon, and he said to him, Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon; but bring me in before the king, and I will declare the interpretation to the king.

Then Arioch in haste brought in Daniel before the king and said to him, I have found a man from among the sons of the captivity of Judea, who will declare the interpretation to the king.

And the king answered and said to Daniel, whose name is Baltasar, If you are able to make known to me the dream that I saw and its interpretation

And Daniel answered before the king and says: the mystery which the king asks is not for wise men, magicians, enchanters, gazarene men to declare to the king

But there is a God in heaven revealing mysteries, and he made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what must happen at the end of the days: your dream and the visions of your head upon your bed; this is it.

As for you, O king, your thoughts on your bed rose up, what must happen after these things, and the one revealing mysteries made known to you what must happen

And as for me, this mystery was not revealed to me because of wisdom that is in me beyond all the living, but for the sake of making the interpretation known to the king, so that you might know the thoughts of your heart.

You, O king, were watching, and behold, one great image; that image was exceedingly splendid, standing before your face, and its appearance was fearful.

The image, whose head was of fine gold, its hands and its breast and its arms were of silver, its belly and its thighs were of bronze.

You were looking until a stone was cut out from a mountain without hands, and it struck the image on the iron and clay feet and crushed them completely

Then the potsherd was broken in pieces at once: the iron, the bronze, the silver, the gold; and they became like dust from a summer threshing floor, and the multitude of the wind carried them away, and no place was found for them; and the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

This is the dream, and we will tell its interpretation before the king.

You, O king, are king of kings, to whom the God of heaven has given a strong and mighty and honored kingdom

in every place where the sons of men dwell, the wild beasts of the field and the birds of heaven he has given into your hand, and he has made you lord over all; you are the golden head

And after you there shall arise another kingdom inferior to you, and a third kingdom, which is the bronze, which shall rule over all the earth.

And a fourth kingdom shall be strong as the iron, in the way that the iron crushes and subdues all things, so it shall crush all things and subdue.

And that you saw the feet and the toes, part of them clay and part of them iron, a kingdom divided will be, and from the root of the iron there will be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with the clay.

And the toes of the feet, some part of them of iron and some part of them of clay, some part of the kingdom shall be strong and from it shall be a thing being broken

Because you saw the iron mixed with the clay, they will mingle with the seed of men, and they will not be sticking together, this with that, just as the iron is not mixed with the clay.

And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will raise up a kingdom which shall not be destroyed forever, and his kingdom shall not be left to another people; it will crush and grind all the kingdoms, and it itself shall stand forever

In the manner that you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain without hands and it crushed the earthenware, the iron, the bronze, the silver, the gold, the great God has made known to the king what must happen after these things, and the dream is true and its interpretation faithful.

Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and worshiped Daniel and said to pour out libations and incense to him

And the king answered and said to Daniel, Truly your God himself is God of gods and Lord of kings, and one revealing mysteries, because you were able to reveal this mystery.

And the king magnified Daniel, and he gave him great and many gifts, and he appointed him over all the province of Babylon and ruler over all the wise men of Babylon.

And Daniel requested from the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon; and Daniel was in the court of the king.
