Do not be hasty with your mouth, and let your heart not be quick to bring forth a word before the face of God, for God is in heaven, and you are on the earth; therefore let your words be few.

For a dream comes with much distraction, and the voice of a fool with many words.

As soon as you vow a vow to God, do not delay to pay it, for there is no will in fools; with whatever you vow, pay it

It is better not to vow than to vow and not to pay.

Do not give your mouth to cause your flesh to sin, and do not say before the face of God, “It is ignorance,” so that God may not be angry at your voice and destroy the works of your hands.

For in a multitude of dreams and vanities and many words, for fear God.

If you see oppression of the poor and the snatching away of justice and righteousness in a region, do not marvel at the matter, for a high one watches over a high one, and high ones are over them.

And the surplus of land is in everything: the king of a cultivated field is worked.

He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver; and who loved in their multitude produce? and indeed this is vanity.

When good things abound, those who eat them are increased; and what courage is there for the one beside it, except to look with his eyes?

Sweet is the sleep of the servant, whether little or much he eats; and for the one filled with riches there is no letting him sleep.

There is a sickness that I have seen under the sun: wealth kept by its owner for his own evil.

And that wealth will perish in a grievous affliction, and he has begotten a son and there is nothing in his hand.

As he came forth from his mother’s womb, naked, he shall return to go as he came, and he shall take nothing at all in his toil that he may go in his hand.

And indeed this is a grievous sickness; for just as he came, so also he will go away; and what advantage is there to him that he labors for the wind?

and indeed all his days are in darkness and in mourning and in much anger and in sickness and in bitterness

Behold, what I have seen, I, as good, which is good: to eat and to drink and to see good in all his toil with which he may toil under the sun, the number of days of his life which God has given him, for this is his portion.

Also every man to whom God has given wealth and possessions and has empowered him to eat from it and to take his portion and to rejoice in his toil—this is the gift of God.

For he will not remember much the days of his life, because God distracts him with the gladness of his heart.
