A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death than the day of his birth.

It is better to go into a house of mourning than that one should go into a house of feasting, because this is the end of every man, and the living will take it to heart.

Sorrow is better than laughter, for by sadness of face the heart will be made better.

The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, and the heart of fools in the house of gladness.

Better is to hear the rebuke of a wise man than a man listening to the song of fools

For as the sound of thorns under the pot, so is the laughter of fools; indeed this also is vanity.

For oppression makes a wise man wander, and destroys the heart of his strength.

Better is the end of a matter than its beginning; better is one patient in spirit than one haughty in spirit.

Do not be hasty in your spirit to be angry, for anger will rest in the bosom of fools.

Do not say, What has happened, that the former days were better than these? For you did not inquire about this in wisdom.

Wisdom is good with an inheritance, and an advantage for those who see the sun.

For in her shadow wisdom is as the shadow of silver, and the surplus of knowledge of wisdom will give life to the one who is beside her

Consider the works of God, for who will be able to straighten what he whom God has twisted?

In a day of prosperity live in good, and in a day of evil see; indeed, also God has made this corresponding to that, so that man may not find anything after him.

All this I have seen in the days of my vanity: there is a righteous man perishing in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man remaining in his evil.

Do not become overly righteous, and do not make yourself excessively wise, lest you be astonished.

Do not be very wicked, and do not become hard, lest you die in your not-time.

It is good that you should hold fast to this, and indeed do not let your hand withdraw from this, for one who fears God will come out with all things.

Wisdom will help the wise more than ten rulers who are in the city.

For there is not a righteous man on the earth who will do good and not sin.

Also, do not set your heart on all the words which they will speak, lest you hear your servant cursing you

For many times it will act wickedly against you, and with many downfalls it will afflict your heart, so that indeed you yourself also may curse others.

All these things I tested in wisdom; I said, I will be wise.

And it has been far removed from me, farther than what was, and deep, a depth—who will find it?

I turned around, I and my heart, to know and to investigate and to seek wisdom and reckoning, and to know the impiety of foolishness and hardness and wandering around

And I find more bitter than death the woman who is snares and nets; her heart is bonds, her hands are chains. The good one before the face of God will be delivered from her, but the sinner will be caught in her.

See, this I found, said the Preacher: one to one to find a reckoning

What my soul still sought, and I found not: one man among a thousand I found, and a woman among all these I found not.

Only this I found: that God made man upright, but they themselves sought out many reasonings.
