And the Lord said to Moses, Go, go up from here, you and your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt, to the land which I swore to Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, saying, To your seed I will give it.

and I will send my angel before your face, and he will cast out the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Gergashite and the Hivite and the Jebusite

and I will bring you into a land flowing with milk and honey, for I will not go up with you, because you are a stiff-necked people, lest I consume you on the way

And the people, having heard this evil word, mourned in mourning garments

And the Lord said to the sons of Israel, You are a stiff-necked people; see, lest I bring another plague upon you and consume you. Now therefore take off the garments of your glory and your adornment, and I will show you what I will do to you.

And the sons of Israel stripped off their ornamentation and their finery from Mount Horeb

And Moses, having taken his tent, pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and it was called the tent of testimony; and it came to pass that everyone seeking the Lord went out to the tent outside the camp

And whenever Moses would enter into the tent outside the camp, all the people would stand watching, each at the doors of his tent, and they would observe Moses departing until his entering into the tent.

And whenever Moses entered into the tent, the pillar of the cloud would come down and stand at the door of the tent, and he would speak with Moses.

And all the people saw the pillar of the cloud standing at the door of the tent, and all the people stood and worshiped, each from the door of his tent.

And the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as if anyone should speak to his own friend; and he went back into the camp. But Joshua son of Nun, his attendant, a young man, did not go out from the tent.

And Moses said to the Lord, Behold, you say to me, Lead up this people, and you have not made clear to me whom you will send with me; yet you have said to me, I know you beyond all, and you have favor with me.

If then I have found favor before you, manifest yourself to me plainly, that I may see you, so that I may be one who has found favor before you, and that I may know that this nation, this great people, is your people

And he said, I will go before you, and I will give you rest.

And he says to him, If you do not yourself go, do not bring me up from here.

And how will it truly be known that I and your people have found favor with you, except by your going with us? And I and your people shall be glorified beyond all the nations that are on the earth.

And the Lord said to Moses, I will also do for you this word that you have spoken, for you have found favor before me, and I know you above all.

And he says, Show me your glory.

And he said, I will pass by before you in my glory, and I will proclaim by my name, Lord, before you, and I will have mercy on whom I may have mercy, and I will pity whom I may pity.

And he said, You shall not be able to see my face, for a man shall by no means see my face and live.

And the Lord said, Behold, a place by me; you shall stand on the rock.

And whenever my glory passes by, I will put you into a cleft of the rock and I will cover you with my hand over you until I pass by.

and I will take away my hand, and then you shall see my backside, but my face shall not be seen by you
