Now Jacob heard the words of the sons of Laban, saying, Jacob has taken all that was our father’s, and from what was our father’s he has made all this wealth.

And Jacob saw the face of Laban, and behold, it was not toward him as yesterday and the third day.

And the Lord said to Jacob, Return to the land of your father and to your kindred, and I will be with you.

And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah into the field where the flocks were.

And he said to them, I see your father’s face, that it is not toward me as yesterday and the third day, but the God of my father has been with me.

And you yourselves know that with all my strength I have served your father

And your father deceived me and changed my wage ten times, and God did not give him to harm me.

If he should say thus: The speckled shall be your wages, then all the sheep will bear speckled; but if he should say: The white shall be your wages, then all the sheep will bear white.

And God took away all the livestock of your father and gave them to me

And it came to pass, when the flock were breeding, that I lifted up my eyes in my sleep and behold, the male goats and the rams were mounting the flocks, the goats, speckled, and spotted, and ash-colored, and mottled.

And the angel of God said to me in a dream, Jacob; and I said, What is it?

And he said, Lift up your eyes and see the he-goats and the rams mounting upon the sheep and the goats, white-striped and speckled and ash-colored spotted; for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you.

I am the God who appeared to you in the place of God, where you anointed a pillar for me there and vowed a vow to me there. Now therefore rise and go out from this land and go to the land of your birth, and I will be with you.

And Rachel and Leah answered and said to him, Is there still any portion or inheritance for us in the house of our father?

Are we not regarded by him as foreigners? For he has sold us and has completely eaten up our silver.

All the wealth and the glory that God has taken away from our father, it will be ours and our children’s; now then, whatever God has said to you, do.

And Jacob rose up and took his wives and his children upon the camels

and he led away all his possessions and all his baggage which he had acquired in Mesopotamia, and all that was his, to go to Isaac his father, into the land of Canaan

Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep, and Rachel stole her father’s idols.

And Jacob hid from Laban the Syrian, so as not to tell him that he was fleeing away.

And he fled, he and all his possessions, and he crossed the river and hastened toward the mountain of Gilead.

And it was reported to Laban the Syrian on the third day that Jacob had fled.

And taking all his brothers with him, he pursued after him a journey of seven days, and overtook him in the mountain of Gilead.

But God came to Laban the Syrian in sleep at night and said to him, Take heed to yourself, lest you speak with Jacob evil things.

And Laban overtook Jacob; and Jacob had pitched his tent in the mountain, and Laban set his brothers in the mountain of Gilead.

And Laban said to Jacob, Why have you done this, that you stole away secretly and deceived me and led away my daughters like captives by the sword?

And if you had told me, I would have sent you away with gladness and with tambourines and with harps

I was not deemed worthy to kiss my children and my daughters; but now you have acted foolishly.

And now my hand has strength to do you harm, but the God of your father spoke to me yesterday, saying, Guard yourself lest you speak with Jacob in an evil way.

Now then, you have gone because you desired to go to the house of your father; why then have you stolen my gods?

And Jacob answered and said to Laban, For I said, lest thou take away thy daughters from me, and all that are mine.

Identify what is yours with me and take it; and he did not recognize with him anything. And Jacob said to him, With whomever you find your gods, he shall not live, in the presence of our brothers. And Jacob did not know that Rachel his wife had stolen them.

Then Laban entered and searched in Leah’s house and found not, and having gone out from Leah’s house he searched Jacob’s house and the house of the two maidservants and found not; and he also entered Rachel’s house

Rachel however took the household gods and put them into the camel’s pack-saddle and sat upon them

And she said to her father, Let it not be grievous, lord, that I am not able to rise before you, because it is according to the custom of women with me. And Laban searched in the whole house, and he did not find the idols.

Then Jacob was angry and contended with Laban, and Jacob answered and said to Laban, What is my wrongdoing and what is my sin, that you pursued after me?

and that you searched all my belongings, what did you find from all the belongings of your house? Put it here before my brothers and your brothers, and let them judge between the two of us

These twenty years I have been with you; your sheep and your goats have not miscarried, and I have not eaten the rams of your sheep.

I did not bring you the torn by beasts; I myself made good the stolen things from my hand, by day and the stolen things by night

By day I was consumed by the heat, and by the frost of the night, and sleep departed from my eyes.

These twenty years for me I have been in your house; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years among your sheep, and you changed my wages ten lambs.

Unless the God of my father Abraham and the Fear of Isaac had been for me, now you would have sent me away empty. My humiliation and the labor of my hands God saw, and he rebuked you yesterday.

And Laban answered and said to Jacob, The daughters are my daughters, and the sons are my sons, and the livestock are my livestock, and all that you see is mine; and what shall I do today to these daughters of mine or to their children whom they bore?

Now therefore come, let us make a covenant, I and you, and it shall be for a witness between me and you. And he said to him, Behold, no one is with us; see, God is witness between me and you.

And Jacob, having taken a stone, set it up as a pillar

And Jacob said to his brothers, Gather stones; and they gathered stones and made a heap, and they ate and drank there on the heap. And Laban said to him, This heap is a witness between me and you today.

And Laban called it The Heap of Witness; and Jacob called it The Heap, a witness.

And Laban said to Jacob, Behold, this hill and this pillar, which I have set between me and you, this hill bears witness, and this pillar bears witness; therefore its name was called Witness Hill.

and the vision which he said, God watch between me and you, because we shall depart one from another

If you shall humble my daughters, if you shall take wives beside my daughters, see, no one is with us.

if indeed I do not cross over to you, nor do you cross over to me, this hill and this pillar, for evil

The God of Abraham and the God of Nachor shall judge between us, and Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.

And Jacob sacrificed a sacrifice on the mountain, and he called his brothers, and they ate and drank and slept on the mountain.
