And Joseph was brought down into Egypt, and Potiphar, the eunuch of Pharaoh, the chief cook, an Egyptian man, bought him from the hand of the Ishmaelites, who had brought him down there.

And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a man succeeding, and he was in the house with the Egyptian lord.

And his lord knew that the Lord was with him, and whatever he might do, the Lord prospered in his hands.

And Joseph found favor before his lord, and he pleased him, and he appointed him over his house, and all that he had he gave into Joseph’s hand.

And it came to pass after he had been appointed over his house and over all that was his, that the Lord blessed the house of the Egyptian because of Joseph, and there was a blessing of the Lord in all that belonged to him, in the house and in the field.

And he entrusted all that he had into Joseph’s hands, and he knew nothing of what was with him except the bread that he himself ate; and Joseph was handsome in form and very beautiful in appearance.

And it came to pass after these things that the wife of his master cast her eyes on Joseph and said, Sleep with me.

But he was not willing, and he said to the woman of his master, If my master does not know through me anything in his house, and all that is his he has given into my hands,

and nothing in this house is over me except you, because you are his wife; and how shall I do this evil thing and sin against God?

And it came to pass, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, and he did not listen to her, to lie down with her, to be with her,

And it happened on such a day that Joseph entered into the house to do his works, and none of those in the house was inside.

And she pulled him by his garments, saying, Lie with me. And he left his garments in her hands and fled and went outside.

And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garments in her hands and had fled and gone out outside,

And she called those who were in the house and said to them, saying, See, he has brought in to us a Hebrew boy to mock us; he came in to me, saying, Lie down with me, and I cried out with a loud voice.

And when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried out, leaving his garments beside me, he fled and went out outside.

And she left the garments beside her until her lord came into his house

And she spoke to him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant whom you brought in to us came in to me to mock me, and he said to me, I will lie with you.

And as he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried out, he left his garments beside me and fled and went out outside

And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, all that she spoke to him, saying, Thus did your servant to me, that he became enraged with anger.

And taking Joseph, his lord cast him into the fortress, into the place where the king’s prisoners are kept there in the fortress.

And the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy and gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer

And the chief jailer gave the prison into Joseph’s hand, and all the men bound there, as many as were in the prison, and all that they did there.

The chief jailer of the prison knew nothing through him, for all things were through Joseph’s hand, because the Lord was with him, and whatever he himself was doing, the Lord made prosper in his hands.
