And it came to pass after two years of days, Pharaoh saw a dream; he thought he was standing by the river.

And behold, as if out of the river there were coming up seven oxen, handsome in appearance and choice in flesh, and they were grazing in the marsh grass

And behold, seven other cows were coming up after them out of the river, ugly in appearance and thin in flesh, and they were feeding beside the cows by the bank of the river.

and the seven ugly and thin cows ate up the seven cows, the beautiful in appearance and the choice ones, and Pharaoh awoke

And he dreamed the second time, and behold, seven ears were coming up on one stalk, choice and good.

Then seven other ears, thin and blasted by the east wind, were sprouting after them

and the seven slender and wind-blasted ears swallowed up the seven choice and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and it was a dream.

And it happened in the morning, and his soul was troubled, and he sent and called all the interpreters of Egypt and all her wise men, and Pharaoh told them the dream, but there was none reporting it to Pharaoh.

Then the chief cupbearer spoke to Pharaoh, saying, I remember my sin today.

Pharaoh was angry with his servants and put us in prison in the house of the chief baker, both me and the chief cupbearer.

And we saw a dream in one night, I and he, each according to his own dream we saw.

And there was there with us a young man, a Hebrew servant of the chief baker, and we told it to him, and he interpreted it for us.

And it came to pass, just as he interpreted to us, so also it happened: me indeed to be restored to my office, but that one to be hanged.

Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him out of the prison, and they shaved him, and changed his clothing, and he came to Pharaoh

And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I have seen a dream, and there is no one who interprets it; and I have heard concerning you, saying, after hearing you, to interpret dreams.

But Joseph answered Pharaoh and said, Without God Pharaoh’s saving shall not be answered.

And Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, In my dream I thought I was standing by the bank of the river.

and, just as out of the river there were coming up seven cows, good in appearance and choice in flesh, and they were grazing in the marsh-grass

And behold, seven other cows were coming up after them out of the river, evil and ugly in appearance and thin in flesh, such as I have not seen the like in all the land of Egypt, more ugly.

And the seven ugly and thin cows devoured the seven first, the good and choice cows.

and they entered into their bellies, and they were not made evident, because they entered into their bellies, and their appearances were ugly as at the beginning, but having awakened, I slept

And I saw again in my dream, and as it were seven ears were coming up on one stalk, full and good

And seven other thin and wind-damaged ears were growing up beside them.

and the seven thin and blasted ears devoured the seven good and full ears; and I spoke to the interpreters, and there was no one telling me

And Joseph said to Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one; as many things as God does, he has shown to Pharaoh.

The seven cows, the good ones, are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years; the dream of Pharaoh is one.

And the seven lean cows that came up after them are seven years, and the seven thin and blasted ears will be seven years of famine.

And the word which I have spoken to Pharaoh, whatever God is doing he showed to Pharaoh.

Behold, seven years are coming of great plenty in all the land of Egypt.

But seven years of famine will come after these, and they will forget the plenty in all the land of Egypt, and the famine will consume the land.

And the abundance will not be known on the land because of the famine that will be after these things, for it will be very strong.

And as for the fact that the dream of Pharaoh was repeated twice, because the matter will be true from God, and God will hasten to do it.

Now therefore look for a prudent and understanding man, and set him over the land of Egypt.

And let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint overseers over the land, and let them collect all the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven years of plenty.

And let them gather together all the food of the seven coming good years, and let the grain be gathered under the hand of Pharaoh as food; let it be stored in the cities.

And the food shall be stored for the land for the seven years of famine which will be in the land of Egypt, and the land shall not be destroyed by the famine.

And the words pleased Pharaoh and all his servants.

And Pharaoh said to all his servants, Shall we find such a man as this, who has the spirit of God in him?

And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Since God has shown you all these things, there is no man wiser and more prudent than you.

You shall be over my house, and at your mouth all my people shall obey; only in respect to the throne I will be greater than you.

And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Behold, I appoint you today over all the land of Egypt.

And Pharaoh, taking off the ring from his hand, put it on Joseph’s hand, and clothed him with a linen robe, and put a golden chain around his neck

And he made him ride on the second chariot of his, and a herald proclaimed before him, and he set him over all the land of Egypt.

And Pharaoh said to Joseph, I am Pharaoh; apart from you no one shall lift up his hand against all the land of Egypt.

And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Psonthomphanēch, and he gave him Aseneth, the daughter of Petephre, priest of Heliopolis, as a wife to him

And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh and passed through all the land of Egypt.

And the land produced during the seven years of plenty sheaves

And he gathered all the food of the seven years in which there was plenty in the land of Egypt, and he put the food in the cities, the food of the fields of the city that were around it he put in it.

And Joseph gathered grain like the sand of the sea, very much, until they were not able to count it, for there was no number.

And to Joseph were born two sons before the seven years of famine came, whom Aseneth, daughter of Pentephres, priest of Heliopolis, bore to him.

And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh, because God made me forget all my troubles and all those of my father.

And the name of the second he called Ephraim, because God has increased me in the land of my humiliation

Now the seven years of abundance that had come to pass in the land of Egypt passed away.

And the seven years of the famine began to come, as Joseph had said, and there was famine in all the land; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

And all the land of Egypt was hungry, and the people cried out to Pharaoh about bread, and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, Go to Joseph, and whatever he says to you, do.

And the famine was upon the face of all the land, and Joseph opened all the granaries and was selling to all the Egyptians.

And all the countries came into Egypt to buy from Joseph, for the famine had prevailed in all the land.
