In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first of the month, a word of the Lord came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying, Say now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, of the tribe of Judah, and to Jesus the son of Josedek, the great priest, saying:
You have sown much and brought in little; you ate and not to satiety; you drank and not to drunkenness; you clothed yourselves and not warmed by them; and he who gathers wages gathered them into a pierced bag.
You looked to many things, and it became little; and it was brought into the house, and I blew it away. Because of this, thus says the Lord Almighty: because my house is desolate, and you each run to his own house.
and I will bring a sword upon the land and upon the mountains and upon the grain and upon the wine and upon the oil and upon whatever the land brings forth and upon the men and upon the cattle and upon all the labors of their hands
And Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, from the tribe of Judah, and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the great priest, and all the remnant of the people heard the voice of the Lord their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, because the Lord their God had sent him to them, and the people feared before the face of the Lord
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, of the tribe of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the great priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they entered and were doing work in the house of the Lord God Almighty, their God
