Let me sing now for my beloved a song of my beloved: a vineyard became for my beloved on a horn, on a fertile place

And I put a fence round it and dug it and planted a vine of Sorech and built a tower in the midst of it and dug a winepress in it and I waited for it to make a grape, but it made thorns.

And now, man of Judah and the ones dwelling in Jerusalem, judge between me and my vineyard.

What more shall I do to my vineyard that I did not do to it? Because I waited to make a grape, but it made thorns.

And now I will declare to you what I will do to my vineyard: I will remove its hedge, and it shall be for plundering, and I will pull down its wall, and it shall be for trampling.

And I will let go my vineyard, and it shall certainly not be pruned nor certainly dug, and thorn will go up into it as into uncultivated ground, and I will command the clouds not to rain rain upon it.

For the vineyard of the Lord of Sabaoth is the house of Israel, and the man of Judah his beloved planting; I waited to do judgment, but he did lawlessness, and not righteousness, but a cry.

Woe to those who join house to house and field to field, drawing near, so that they may take away something from their neighbor; will you not dwell alone upon the land?

For these things were heard in the ears of Lord Sabaoth: if indeed many houses shall become, they shall be a desolation; great and good, and there shall not be those dwelling in them.

For ten yoke of oxen will make one jar, and the one sowing six artabas will make three measures.

Woe to those who rise early in the morning and pursue strong drink, who stay late in the evening; for wine will burn them up

For with harp and psaltery and tambourines and flutes they drink wine, but the works of the Lord they do not regard, and the works of his hands they do not consider.

Therefore my people became captives because they did not know the Lord, and a multitude became dead because of famine and thirst for water

And Hades enlarged his soul, and opened his mouth so as not to cease; and the glorious and the great and the rich and the pestilent of it shall go down.

And man will be brought low, and man will be dishonored, and the lofty eyes will be brought low

And the Lord of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the holy God will be glorified in righteousness.

And the ones who have been plundered shall be fed on like bulls, and lambs shall eat the ruins of the taken away ones.

Woe to those who draw sins along as with a long rope and as with the strap of a heifer’s yoke their lawless deeds

those who say, Let the speed draw near, what he will do, so that we may see, and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel come, so that we may know

Woe to those who say evil is good and good evil, who set darkness as light and light as darkness, who set bitter as sweet and sweet as bitter

Woe to those who are wise in themselves and before themselves knowledgeable.

Woe to your mighty men, those who drink wine, and the strong men, those who mix strong drink

who justify the ungodly for the sake of gifts and who take away the righteousness of the righteous

Therefore, as straw is burned up by a live coal of fire and is burned together by a kindled flame, their root shall be like chaff, and their blossom shall go up like dust; for they did not will the law of the Lord of Sabaoth, but they provoked the word of the Holy One of Israel.

And the Lord of hosts was angered with wrath against his people, and he laid his hand upon them and struck them, and the mountains were provoked, and their corpses became like dung in the midst of the road; and in all these things his anger did not turn back, but still the hand was high.

Therefore he will raise a signal among the nations that are far away, and he will whistle for them from the end of the earth, and behold, they come quickly and swiftly

They shall not hunger, nor shall they grow weary, nor shall they drowse, nor shall they sleep, nor shall they loose the straps of their waist from their loins, nor shall the straps of their sandals ever be broken.

whose arrows are sharp and their bows are bent; the feet of their horses were considered like solid rock, and the wheels of their chariots like a storm

They rush as lions, and they have stood as a lion’s cub; and it will seize and cry out as a beast and carry off, and there will be none delivering them

And he will cry over them on that day like the sound of a surging sea, and they will look toward the land, and behold, dark darkness in their distress
