ὄρους πεδινοῦ ἄρατε σημεῖον ὑψώσατε τὴν φωνὴν αὐτοῖς μὴ φοβεῖσθε παρακαλεῖτε τῇ χειρί ἀνοίξατε οἱ ἄρχοντες
Upon a level mountain raise a signal, lift up the voice to them; do not fear, encourage with the hand; open, O rulers.
συντάσσω καὶ ἐγὼ ἄγω αὐτούς ἡγιασμένοι εἰσίν καὶ ἐγὼ ἄγω αὐτούς γίγαντες ἔρχονται πληρῶσαι τὸν θυμόν μου χαίροντες ἅμα καὶ ὑβρίζοντες
I give orders, and I bring them; they are consecrated, and I bring them. Giants are coming to fulfill my wrath, rejoicing together and insulting.
ἐθνῶν πολλῶν ἐπὶ τῶν ὀρέων ὁμοία ἐθνῶν πολλῶν φωνὴ βασιλέων καὶ ἐθνῶν συνηγμένων κύριος σαβαωθ ἐντέταλται ἔθνει ὁπλομάχῳ
A sound of many nations on the mountains, like many nations; a sound of kings and nations gathered together. The Lord of hosts has given command to a nation of warriors.
ἐκ γῆς πόρρωθεν ἀπ᾿ ἄκρου θεμελίου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ κύριος καὶ οἱ ὁπλομάχοι αὐτοῦ τοῦ καταφθεῖραι τὴν οἰκουμένην ὅλην
They are coming from a distant land, from the edge of the foundation of heaven: the Lord and his armed men, to destroy the whole inhabited earth.
Wail, for near is the day of the Lord, and destruction from God will come.
Therefore every hand shall be weakened, and every human soul shall be frightened.
ταραχθήσονται οἱ πρέσβεις καὶ ὠδῖνες αὐτοὺς ἕξουσιν ὡς γυναικὸς τικτούσης καὶ συμφοράσουσιν ἕτερος πρὸς τὸν ἕτερον καὶ ἐκστήσονται καὶ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτῶν ὡς φλὸξ μεταβαλοῦσιν
And the envoys will be troubled, and pangs will hold them as of a woman giving birth, and they will rush together, one to the other, and they will be beside themselves, and their face they will change like a flame.
γὰρ ἡμέρα κυρίου ἀνίατος ἔρχεται θυμοῦ καὶ ὀργῆς θεῖναι τὴν οἰκουμένην ὅλην ἔρημον καὶ τοὺς ἁμαρτωλοὺς ἀπολέσαι ἐξ αὐτῆς
For behold, the day of the Lord comes, incurable, with wrath and anger, to make the whole inhabited world a desolation and to destroy the sinners from it
γὰρ ἀστέρες τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ὁ Ὠρίων καὶ πᾶς ὁ κόσμος τοῦ οὐρανοῦ τὸ φῶς οὐ δώσουσιν καὶ σκοτισθήσεται τοῦ ἡλίου ἀνατέλλοντος καὶ ἡ σελήνη οὐ δώσει τὸ φῶς αὐτῆς
For the stars of the heaven and Orion and all the host of the heaven will not give light, and it will be dark at the rising of the sun, and the moon will not give its light
ἐντελοῦμαι τῇ οἰκουμένῃ ὅλῃ κακὰ καὶ τοῖς ἀσεβέσιν τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν καὶ ἀπολῶ ὕβριν ἀνόμων καὶ ὕβριν ὑπερηφάνων ταπεινώσω
And I will command evils against the whole inhabited world and against the ungodly their sins, and I will destroy the arrogance of lawless men and the arrogance of the proud I will humble
ἔσονται οἱ καταλελειμμένοι ἔντιμοι μᾶλλον ἢ τὸ χρυσίον τὸ ἄπυρον καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος μᾶλλον ἔντιμος ἔσται ἢ ὁ λίθος ὁ ἐκ Σουφιρ
And the remaining men shall be more precious than unpurified gold, and a man shall be more precious than the stone from Sufir
γὰρ οὐρανὸς θυμωθήσεται καὶ ἡ γῆ σεισθήσεται ἐκ τῶν θεμελίων αὐτῆς διὰ θυμὸν ὀργῆς κυρίου σαβαωθ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ ἂν ἐπέλθῃ ὁ θυμὸς αὐτοῦ
For the heaven will be enraged, and the earth will be shaken from its foundations, because of the wrath of the anger of the Lord Sabaoth, in the day on which his wrath should come upon it.
ἔσονται οἱ καταλελειμμένοι ὡς δορκάδιον φεῦγον καὶ ὡς πρόβατον πλανώμενον καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ συνάγων ὥστε ἄνθρωπον εἰς τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἀποστραφῆναι καὶ ἄνθρωπον εἰς τὴν χώραν αὐτοῦ διῶξαι
And those who are left will be like a fleeing gazelle and like a wandering sheep, and there will be no one gathering them, so that a man may turn back to his people and a man may pursue to his own land.
For whoever is caught will be defeated, and those who are gathered together will fall by the sword.
τὰ τέκνα αὐτῶν ἐνώπιον αὐτῶν ῥάξουσιν καὶ τὰς οἰκίας αὐτῶν προνομεύσουσιν καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας αὐτῶν ἕξουσιν
and they will dash their children before their eyes and will plunder their houses and will take their wives
Behold, I am stirring up against you the Medes, who do not regard silver and have no need of gold.
νεανίσκων συντρίψουσιν καὶ τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν οὐ μὴ ἐλεήσωσιν οὐδὲ ἐπὶ τοῖς τέκνοις οὐ φείσονται οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτῶν
Their bows shall dash in pieces the young men, and they shall have no mercy on your children, nor shall their eyes spare the children.
ἔσται Βαβυλών ἣ καλεῖται ἔνδοξος ὑπὸ βασιλέως Χαλδαίων ὃν τρόπον κατέστρεψεν ὁ θεὸς Σοδομα καὶ Γομορρα
And Babylon, which is called glorious by the king of the Chaldeans, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah
κατοικηθήσεται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα χρόνον οὐδὲ μὴ εἰσέλθωσιν εἰς αὐτὴν διὰ πολλῶν γενεῶν οὐδὲ μὴ διέλθωσιν αὐτὴν Ἄραβες οὐδὲ ποιμένες οὐ μὴ ἀναπαύσωνται ἐν αὐτῇ
It shall not be inhabited forever, nor shall they enter into it for many generations; neither shall Arabs pass through it, nor shall shepherds surely rest in it.
ἀναπαύσονται ἐκεῖ θηρία καὶ ἐμπλησθήσονται αἱ οἰκίαι ἤχου καὶ ἀναπαύσονται ἐκεῖ σειρῆνες καὶ δαιμόνια ἐκεῖ ὀρχήσονται
And wild animals shall rest there, and the houses shall be filled with sound, and sirens shall rest there, and demons shall dance there
ὀνοκένταυροι ἐκεῖ κατοικήσουσιν καὶ νοσσοποιήσουσιν ἐχῖνοι ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις αὐτῶν ταχὺ ἔρχεται καὶ οὐ χρονιεῖ
And centaurs shall dwell there, and hedgehogs shall make nests in their houses; quickly it comes and it shall not delay.
