Priests, speak to the heart of Jerusalem; comfort her, because her humiliation has been fulfilled, her sin has been released, because she has received from the hand of the Lord double for her sins.
A voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight the paths of our God.
Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked things shall become straight, and the rough places shall become plains
and the glory of the Lord shall be seen, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God, for the Lord has spoken
A voice of one saying, Cry out. And I said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory of man is as the flower of grass.
The grass has withered, and the flower has fallen.
But the word of our God remains forever
Go up on a high mountain, you who bring good news to Zion; lift up your voice with strength, you who bring good news to Jerusalem; lift it up, do not fear; say to the cities of Judah, Behold, your God.
Behold, the Lord is coming with strength, and his arm with dominion; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
Like a shepherd he will shepherd his flock, and with his arm he will gather lambs and will comfort those in the womb.
Who has measured the water in the hand and the heaven with a span and all the earth with a palm? Who has set the mountains by weight and the valleys by a balance?
Who has known the mind of the Lord, and who became his counselor, who instructs him?
Or with whom did he take counsel, and who instructed him, or who showed him judgment, or the way of understanding, who showed him?
If all the nations are reckoned as a drop from a bucket and as a tipping of a scale, and as spittle they shall be reckoned
And Lebanon is not enough for burning, and all the four-footed animals are not enough for a whole burnt offering.
And all the nations are as nothing, and they were accounted as nothing.
To whom have you likened the Lord, and to what likeness have you likened him?
Did an artisan make an image, or did a goldsmith, having smelted gold, overlay it with gold? He fashioned a likeness for it.
For the craftsman chooses an incorruptible wood and carefully seeks how he will set up its image, so that it may not be shaken
Do you not know? Do you not hear? Was it not announced to you from the beginning? Did you not know the foundations of the earth?
He who holds the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are as locusts; he who set up the heaven as a vault, and stretched it out as a tent to dwell in
who gives rulers to rule as nothing and made the earth as nothing
For they shall by no means sow nor by no means plant, nor shall their root be by no means rooted in the earth; he blew upon them, and they withered, and a storm shall take them up like dry brushwood.
Now therefore to whom have you likened me, and I shall be exalted, said the Holy One
Lift up your eyes on high and see who has displayed all these things, the one who brings out his world by number; he will call them all by name from much glory and in strength of might none escaped you
For do not say, Jacob, and why did you speak, Israel, My way has been hidden from God, and my God has taken away my judgment and has departed away
And now, did you not know, or did you not hear? The eternal God, the God who prepared the ends of the earth, will not hunger nor grow weary, nor is there searching out of his understanding.
giving strength to the hungry and grief to those not being in pain
For even youths shall hunger, and young men shall grow weary, and chosen men shall be without strength.
But those who wait for God shall change strength; they shall put forth wings like eagles; they shall run and not grow weary; they shall walk and not hunger.
