λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ διορθώσατε τὰς ὁδοὺς ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα ὑμῶν καὶ κατοικιῶ ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ
Thus says the Lord God of Israel: make straight your ways and your practices, and I will make you dwell in this place.
πεποίθατε ἐφ᾿ ἑαυτοῖς ἐπὶ λόγοις ψευδέσιν ὅτι τὸ παράπαν οὐκ ὠφελήσουσιν ὑμᾶς λέγοντες ναὸς κυρίου ναὸς κυρίου ἐστίν
Do not trust in yourselves on false words, saying, The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord is this, for they will by no means profit you.
ἐὰν διορθοῦντες διορθώσητε τὰς ὁδοὺς ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ ἐπιτηδεύματα ὑμῶν καὶ ποιοῦντες ποιήσητε κρίσιν ἀνὰ μέσον ἀνδρὸς καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ πλησίον αὐτοῦ
For if by correcting you correct your ways and your practices, and by doing you do justice between a man and between his neighbor,
προσήλυτον καὶ ὀρφανὸν καὶ χήραν μὴ καταδυναστεύσητε καὶ αἷμα ἀθῷον μὴ ἐκχέητε ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ καὶ ὀπίσω θεῶν ἀλλοτρίων μὴ πορεύησθε εἰς κακὸν ὑμῖν
and you shall not oppress the resident alien and the orphan and the widow, and you shall not shed innocent blood in this place, and you shall not go after foreign gods for evil to you
and I will make you dwell in this place, in the land which I gave to your fathers from everlasting and unto everlasting
But if you are trusting in false words, from which you will not be benefited
φονεύετε καὶ μοιχᾶσθε καὶ κλέπτετε καὶ ὀμνύετε ἐπ᾿ ἀδίκῳ καὶ ἐθυμιᾶτε τῇ Βααλ καὶ ἐπορεύεσθε ὀπίσω θεῶν ἀλλοτρίων ὧν οὐκ οἴδατε τοῦ κακῶς εἶναι ὑμῖν
and you murder and commit adultery and steal and swear by falsehood and burn incense to Baal and go after foreign gods, whom you did not know, so that it may be ill with you
ἤλθετε καὶ ἔστητε ἐνώπιον ἐμοῦ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ οὗ ἐπικέκληται τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ καὶ εἴπατε ἀπεσχήμεθα τοῦ μὴ ποιεῖν πάντα τὰ βδελύγματα ταῦτα
And you came and stood before me in the house upon which my name has been called, and you said, We have refrained from doing all these abominations.
σπήλαιον λῃστῶν ὁ οἶκός μου οὗ ἐπικέκληται τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ ἐκεῖ ἐνώπιον ὑμῶν καὶ ἐγὼ ἰδοὺ ἑώρακα λέγει κύριος
Has my house, upon which my name has been called, become a cave of robbers in your sight? And behold, I have seen, says the Lord.
πορεύθητε εἰς τὸν τόπον μου τὸν ἐν Σηλωμ οὗ κατεσκήνωσα τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐκεῖ ἔμπροσθεν καὶ ἴδετε ἃ ἐποίησα αὐτῷ ἀπὸ προσώπου κακίας λαοῦ μου Ισραηλ
For go to my place that was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell there formerly, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.
νῦν ἀνθ᾿ ὧν ἐποιήσατε πάντα τὰ ἔργα ταῦτα καὶ ἐλάλησα πρὸς ὑμᾶς καὶ οὐκ ἠκούσατέ μου καὶ ἐκάλεσα ὑμᾶς καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθητε
And now, because you did all these works, and I spoke to you and you did not hear me, and I called you and you did not answer me
ποιήσω τῷ οἴκῳ τούτῳ ᾧ ἐπικέκληται τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ ἐφ᾿ ᾧ ὑμεῖς πεποίθατε ἐπ᾿ αὐτῷ καὶ τῷ τόπῳ ᾧ ἔδωκα ὑμῖν καὶ τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν καθὼς ἐποίησα τῇ Σηλωμ
And I will do to this house, upon which my name has been called, on which you trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shilom.
And I will cast you away from before my face, as I cast away your brothers, all the seed of Ephraim.
σὺ μὴ προσεύχου περὶ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου καὶ μὴ ἀξίου τοῦ ἐλεηθῆναι αὐτοὺς καὶ μὴ εὔχου καὶ μὴ προσέλθῃς μοι περὶ αὐτῶν ὅτι οὐκ εἰσακούσομαι
And you, do not pray concerning this people, and do not ask that they be pitied, and do not supplicate, and do not come near to me concerning them, for I will not listen.
Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
υἱοὶ αὐτῶν συλλέγουσιν ξύλα καὶ οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν καίουσι πῦρ καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες αὐτῶν τρίβουσιν σταῖς τοῦ ποιῆσαι χαυῶνας τῇ στρατιᾷ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἔσπεισαν σπονδὰς θεοῖς ἀλλοτρίοις ἵνα παροργίσωσίν με
Their sons gather wood, and their fathers kindle fire, and their women knead dough, to make cakes for the host of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to foreign gods, in order to provoke me to anger
Do they not provoke me themselves, says the Lord, not themselves, so that their faces may be put to shame?
τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ ὀργὴ καὶ θυμός μου χεῖται ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον τοῦτον καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς ἀνθρώπους καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ κτήνη καὶ ἐπὶ πᾶν ξύλον τοῦ ἀγροῦ αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ γενήματα τῆς γῆς καὶ καυθήσεται καὶ οὐ σβεσθήσεται
Therefore thus says the Lord: behold, my anger and wrath are poured out upon this place and upon the men and upon the animals and upon every tree of their field and upon all the produce of the earth, and it shall be burned and shall not be quenched.
Thus says the Lord: your whole burnt offerings, gather them with your sacrifices and eat flesh.
οὐκ ἐλάλησα πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας ὑμῶν καὶ οὐκ ἐνετειλάμην αὐτοῖς ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ ἀνήγαγον αὐτοὺς ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου περὶ ὁλοκαυτωμάτων καὶ θυσίας
For I did not speak to your fathers, and I did not command them on the day when I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, concerning whole burnt offerings and sacrifices
ἢ τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο ἐνετειλάμην αὐτοῖς λέγων ἀκούσατε τῆς φωνῆς μου καὶ ἔσομαι ὑμῖν εἰς θεόν καὶ ὑμεῖς ἔσεσθέ μοι εἰς λαόν καὶ πορεύεσθε ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ὁδοῖς μου αἷς ἂν ἐντείλωμαι ὑμῖν ὅπως ἂν εὖ ᾖ ὑμῖν
But rather this word I commanded them, saying, Hear my voice, and I will be to you for God, and you shall be to me for a people; and walk in all my ways that I may command you, so that it may be well with you.
οὐκ ἤκουσάν μου καὶ οὐ προσέσχεν τὸ οὖς αὐτῶν ἀλλ᾿ ἐπορεύθησαν ἐν τοῖς ἐνθυμήμασιν τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν τῆς κακῆς καὶ ἐγενήθησαν εἰς τὰ ὄπισθεν καὶ οὐκ εἰς τὰ ἔμπροσθεν
And they did not hear me, and they did not incline their ear, but they walked in the thoughts of the evil of their heart, and they became for the things behind and not for the things before.
ἧς ἡμέρας ἐξήλθοσαν οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης καὶ ἐξαπέστειλα πρὸς ὑμᾶς πάντας τοὺς δούλους μου τοὺς προφήτας ἡμέρας καὶ ὄρθρου καὶ ἀπέστειλα
From the day when their fathers went out of the land of Egypt and until this day, and I sent to you all my servants, the prophets, day and dawn, and I sent
οὐκ ἤκουσάν μου καὶ οὐ προσέσχεν τὸ οὖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἐσκλήρυναν τὸν τράχηλον αὐτῶν ὑπὲρ τοὺς πατέρας αὐτῶν
And they did not listen to me, and they did not incline their ear, and they hardened their neck more than their fathers.
ἐρεῖς αὐτοῖς τὸν λόγον τοῦτον τοῦτο τὸ ἔθνος ὃ οὐκ ἤκουσεν τῆς φωνῆς κυρίου οὐδὲ ἐδέξατο παιδείαν ἐξέλιπεν ἡ πίστις ἐκ στόματος αὐτῶν
And you shall say to them this word: This nation, which did not listen to the voice of the Lord nor accepted discipline, faithfulness has vanished from their mouth.
τὴν κεφαλήν σου καὶ ἀπόρριπτε καὶ ἀνάλαβε ἐπὶ χειλέων θρῆνον ὅτι ἀπεδοκίμασεν κύριος καὶ ἀπώσατο τὴν γενεὰν τὴν ποιοῦσαν ταῦτα
Cut off your hair and throw it away, and take up a lament on your lips, because the Lord has rejected and cast away the generation doing these things.
ἐποίησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ιουδα τὸ πονηρὸν ἐναντίον ἐμοῦ λέγει κύριος ἔταξαν τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ οὗ ἐπικέκληται τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐπ᾿ αὐτόν τοῦ μιᾶναι αὐτόν
For the sons of Judah have done the evil before me, says the Lord; they have set their abominations in the house on which my name has been called, to defile it.
ᾠκοδόμησαν τὸν βωμὸν τοῦ Ταφεθ ὅς ἐστιν ἐν φάραγγι υἱοῦ Εννομ τοῦ κατακαίειν τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς θυγατέρας αὐτῶν ἐν πυρί ὃ οὐκ ἐνετειλάμην αὐτοῖς καὶ οὐ διενοήθην ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ μου
And they built the altar of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in fire, which I did not command them, and it did not come into my heart.
τοῦτο ἰδοὺ ἡμέραι ἔρχονται λέγει κύριος καὶ οὐκ ἐροῦσιν ἔτι βωμὸς τοῦ Ταφεθ καὶ φάραγξ υἱοῦ Εννομ ἀλλ᾿ ἢ φάραγξ τῶν ἀνῃρημένων καὶ θάψουσιν ἐν τῷ Ταφεθ διὰ τὸ μὴ ὑπάρχειν τόπον
Therefore behold, days are coming, says the Lord, and they will no longer say, the altar of Topheth and the valley of the son of Hinnom, but rather, the valley of the slain; and they will bury in Topheth because there is no place.
ἔσονται οἱ νεκροὶ τοῦ λαοῦ τούτου εἰς βρῶσιν τοῖς πετεινοῖς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τοῖς θηρίοις τῆς γῆς καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ ἀποσοβῶν
And the dead bodies of this people shall be for food to the birds of the sky and to the beasts of the earth, and there shall be no one driving them away
καταλύσω ἐκ πόλεων Ιουδα καὶ ἐκ διόδων Ιερουσαλημ φωνὴν εὐφραινομένων καὶ φωνὴν χαιρόντων φωνὴν νυμφίου καὶ φωνὴν νύμφης ὅτι εἰς ἐρήμωσιν ἔσται πᾶσα ἡ γῆ
And I will abolish from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of those rejoicing and the voice of those being glad, the voice of bridegroom and the voice of bride, because all the land shall be for desolation.
