At that time, says the Lord, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah and the bones of his rulers and the bones of the priests and the bones of the prophets and the bones of those who dwell in Jerusalem from their tombs

and they shall cool them toward the sun and the moon and toward all the stars and toward all the host of heaven, which they loved and which they served and after which they went and which they held fast to and to which they bowed themselves; they shall not be lamented and they shall not be buried, and they shall be for a sign on the face of the earth

For they chose death rather than life, even for all the remnant left from that generation in every place where I shall drive them out there

For thus says the Lord: Does the one who falls not rise, or the one who turns away not return?

Why has this people of mine turned away with shameless turning away, and they have been held fast in their choice, and they were not willing to return?

Give ear now and hear; not so will they speak: there is no man repenting from his wickedness, saying, What have I done? The one who runs has ceased from his course, as a sweating horse in his neighing.

Even the stork in the sky knows its appointed time, and the turtledove and swallow, the birds of the field, have kept the times of their coming in; but my people did not know the judgments of the Lord.

How will you say, We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us? In vain has the lying pen of the scribes become.

The wise have been put to shame and have been terrified and have been captured, because they rejected the word of the Lord; what wisdom is in them?

Therefore I will give their wives to others and their fields to heirs

And they shall gather their produce, says the Lord; there is no grape on the vines, and there is no figs on the fig trees, and the leaves have fallen away.

Why are we sitting? Gather together, and let us go into the fortified cities, and let us be cast out, because God has cast us out and has given us water of gall to drink, because we sinned before him.

We were gathered together for peace, and there were no good things, for a time of healing, and behold, haste

From Dan we shall hear the sound of the sharpness of his horses; from the sound of the neighing of his horsemen all the earth was shaken, and he shall come and devour the land and its fullness, the city and those who dwell in it.

For behold, I am sending among you serpents that are killing, against which there is no enchantment, and they will bite you.

Beyond cure, with pain of your heart becoming perplexed

Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land far away: Is the Lord not in Zion? Or is her king not there? Why have they provoked me to anger with their carved images and with vain foreign things?

The summer has passed, the harvest has gone by, and we were not saved.

For the crushing of the daughter of my people I was darkened; perplexity seized me, pangs like of one giving birth.

Is there no balm in Gilead, or is there no physician there? Why has the healing of the daughter of my people not come up?

Who will give water to my head and a fountain of tears to my eyes, and I will weep for this my people day and night, those wounded of the daughter of my people
